WE ARE DONE!!

As of this morning, we have recruited and enrolled our final participant for the WalkBack Trial, officially reaching our target of 698 people!!

Our sincere thanks to not only those involved in the trial, but to anyone who ever liked or shared our posts, tagged a friend, picked up a flyer, saw a banner, checked out our website, or completed our pre-screening questionnaire - this could not have happened without your help!

We will now be taking a short moment to let this all sink in, before shifting our focus onto the next phase of the trial - collecting and analysing data to see if our intervention has any effect.

If you would like to stay in the loop and receive a copy of the results at the conclusion of the Trial, please add your details via the link:

Thank you for your contribution to the WalkBack Trial. Please register your name and email address to receive a summary of results at the end of the trial. Results will be distributed upon completion of the trial in 2022. If you do not want to receive a summary of results, you can simply close this....

About the WalkBack trial

The WalkBack trial is a large-scale research study funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council and conducted by Macquarie University, Sydney. The trial is investigating the combination of an individualised walking program and education, compared to usual care, for the prevention of low back pain.

If you live in Australia and have had an episode of low back pain in the last 6 months, you may be eligible to participate. We will randomly assign willing participants to one of two groups. One group will receive the walking and advice intervention delivered by a physiotherapist (3 face to face/video conferencing and 3 over the phone consultations, at no cost) and the other group will not receive any intervention, but are encouraged to continue with their current management or prevention approach of choice. Both groups will be followed for a minimum of 1 year to see if they have a recurrence of low back pain.

Participating in this trial will help to improve the current management of recurrent low back pain episodes. For more detailed information about WalkBack, please visit our website (www.walkbacktrial.com) and download the 'Participant Information Form’. If you would like to volunteer in the trial, please complete the short β€˜Screening survey’ on the website to see if you may be eligible to participate.
