NEVER TRAIN WITH BACK PAIN:
Back pain can be a warning that serious, irreversible damage has occurred or is about to occur. It must never be ignored.
If you notice back pain, pain shooting down the leg, tingling or muscle spasm, the nervous system is warning you to stop.
Do not listen to friends, training partners, personal trainers or people who say: ” I’ve been training for 20 years and this exercise will fix your back….etc etc”. They have no idea which structure is causing the pain. Even a qualified health professional doesn’t know until they’ve examined you.
Professional athletes never return to training whilst there’s pain. There’s a reason for this: they have health professionals constantly assessing them and know there’s no such thing as ’stretching out’ an injury, fixing it with foam rollers etc. Healing takes time and varies with different body structures.
Nerve damage, tearing of spinal disc fibres, muscle tendon ruptures and many other problems which may cause permanent disability, can often be avoided with common sense and a check up with a health professional prior to training.
Chiropractors specialise in assessment, diagnosis and correction of muscle and joint imbalances. This treatment is something that is of immense value to anyone commencing an exercise program.
IT’S EASIER TO PREVENT PROBLEMS THAN TO CORRECT THEM!
