A Thoroughbred coming back into work with an abscess that had blown out the outside heel which was causing her a bit of discomfort. We fitted her with a Size 6 Concorde Xtra heart bar nailed up with FJ Slims 0. We cut away the damaged hoof wall, using the heart bar to support the rest of the hoof capsule. The inside of the heel is still a bit sensitive so the stable staff will be able to treat it to harden the soft tissue 👌🏻 🐎

Here is a before and after project we’ve been working on for the a little over 12 months. The horse suffered an injury in his paddock; tearing the hoof wall away and exposing the soft, sensitive tissue inside the hoof capsule. We came up with a plan with the team at Southwest Equine to apply a heart bar shoe to help support the hoof capsule applied a hoof cast and acrylic glue to help seal up the damaged area after the Vets had thoroughly cleaned and packed the affected area before the cast was applied. 13 months on and horses hoof has grown down back to its full function 👌🏻 The combination of a Farrier/Vet combo and a proactive owner, we can provide more often the not a great end result like this 🤞🏻 🐎 🔨
