📣 Paid Opportunities to Share Your Experience with the NDIS
Two new opportunities are open for NDIS participants, families and carers to get involved and be heard.

You will be paid for your time!

💬 1. Help Design the Future Navigator Service
The NDIA is creating a new role called a Navigator to help people find and use everyday, community and NDIS supports.
They are inviting participants and families to join paid focus groups and share your ideas to help shape this new service.

🧭 Navigators will support people to connect with the right services and build confidence to navigate the system.

Expressions of Interest close Sunday 3 August
Focus groups will run from 14 August to 23 September 2025

They are especially keen to hear from people in regional or remote areas, First Nations communities, and parents or carers of children under 9 on the NDIS.

The Saturday Paper reported on 5th July, that NDIA CEO Rebecca Falkingham allegedly intervened to remove a participant from the scheme following negative press attention, without a formal investigation. That participant, who lives with psychosocial and neurological disability, was later reinstated with more disabilities recognised than originally recorded.

If this report is accurate, it raises serious concerns about due process, participant rights, and the integrity of the NDIS.

The NDIA Board must respond publicly. Ongoing silence only erodes trust further, at a time when confidence in the scheme is already fragile.

As providers and advocates, we need to see:
- A clear and transparent response from the NDIA Board
- Immediate reassurance that participant eligibility is not being influenced by media scrutiny or internal bias
- Strong safeguards to prevent any future misuse of power

The NDIS is meant to be participant-led, not politically reactive.

We are watching, and we expect better.

The whole story.

NDIS Funding Changes: Why We’re Concerned
On May 19, new NDIS funding rules came into effect — and many in our community are worried.

These changes mean most supports will now be released in smaller chunks over time, rather than being fully available at the start of a plan. While the goal is to manage budgets more carefully, this shift is already causing issues: rejected claims, disrupted services, and extra admin stress for participants and families.

Every Australian Counts and over 70 disability rights organisations have released a powerful joint statement calling for the rollout to pause and for co-designed solutions that put people first. We stand with them.

💬 If these changes are affecting you or someone you support, speak up. This is the time for our voices to be heard.

Let’s be clear about NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme Pricing:

📉 Prices are being cut in real terms for a 7th year in a row.

❌ NDIS is not passing on the Fair Work Commission wage increase.

🙅‍♀️ These changes were made behind closed doors. People with disability, their families, and the providers who support them were not consulted.

🛑 Critical supports are being devalued.

🚨 Support Coordination and Plan Management Prices are not based on a cost model and have not benchmark against like services in Aged Care, Workplace Accident Schemes and Vehicle Accident Schemes.

Support Coordinators and Plan Managers aren't optional! They are essential.
They support participants navigate a increasingly bureaucratic system, exercise their choice, amplify their voice, build capacity and ensure NDIS participants actually get the support they need.

We need transparency. We need fairness. We need a system that listens. We must

DIA urgently calls on the National Disability Insurance Agency to do the right thing and take immediate action:

1️⃣ Pass on the 3.5% wage and 0.5% superannuation increase to Support Coordination and Plan Management pricing immediately (from 1 July);

2️⃣ Reverse the cuts to establishment fees and rural/remote loading for Plan Management services;

3️⃣ Reverse the cuts to provider travel so that services can be delivered in community settings not just clinics;

4️⃣ Implement an independent price authority. Only an independent pricing authority can set a transparent pricing model that accurately reflects the true cost of service delivery, including wage pressures, compliance costs, and the value of these services.
