While there is community apprehension around Support Coordinators there are still highly skilled and qualified Support Coordinators going above and beyond to support the participants they are engaged with.
Due to participants having bad experiences, or some providers not upholding their responsibilities this affects and puts pressure on those doing the right thing to constantly reassure, prove their abilities and provide support and outcomes that are expected rather than required.
Both Plan Managers and Support Coordinators work to ensure that providers uphold their responsibilities to provide transparent and consistent supports to ensure participants achieve their goals.
Support Coordinators work with numerous stakeholders, families , community members and allied health to ensure participants have the most appropriate supports.
Without these services participants can loose connections, not have appropriate services or outcomes, not have assistance in maintaining connections , sustainability of funding and plans, and upholding their responsibilities individual rights of people with a disability.

There is a lot of time spent completing tasks without payment.
The NDIS relies heavily on the support coordinators and plan managers for data, evidence and coordination or all supports for participants.
Unfortunately we have not had an increase in the hourly rate for at least 4-5 years , I do get asked if I make $100.14 per hour, the answer is no .
While there is increase in hourly rates in other provisions, we are left behind but our work load increases .
Support Coordinators deserve recognition for the active and important role we play within participants lives not for show, but recognition to acknowledge the support and commitment we provide to participants to ensure they achieve their goals, have access to appropriate supports , maintain independence, have their rights respected and for ensuring they have every opportunity to to advocate for themselves .
