HAPPY BIRTHDAY LIZZIE!!

"Lizzie and I headed to Sydney by the Train for her birthday getaway! First up, Paddy Markets for some of the fluffiest bagels ever for lunch. We made our way to The Wax Museum and took photos with some pretty cool looking people! We checked out all the towns and got a much needed sweet drink. Completed around 16,000 steps!!! 🥳🧋🥯"

✨ October Wrap-Up! ✨

It’s been a big month of achievements, creativity, and exciting progress!

🎨 Darren Horsfield showcased his incredible Recycled Monster Art exhibition at Maitland Regional Art Gallery. Don’t miss his final Artist in Residence session this Friday, 7th November (10am–1pm) — pop in and show your support!

🏡 Amy and Julie have become weekend roommates, with Julie joining Amy (and Bruno the dog!) for respite weekends. The duo have been busy cooking up delicious home meals together!

🌞 We’ve also enjoyed plenty of activities — beach days, park BBQs, the Full Throttle Country Music event, and of course our famous Halloween Hoi!

🔧 Renovation Update: Our Activities Hub has seen huge improvements this month, including a nearly completed front ramp and the beginnings of a full bathroom transformation — soon-to-be featuring one fully accessible bathroom and two separate bathrooms. Plus, our new back courtyard now provides six accessible parking spaces! Big Bear Builds

👷‍♀️ Coming up: kitchen extensions, bathroom completions, and a new front reception entry — all creating more space and opportunities for our participants and staff.
We’re so proud of the growth and achievements across our community this month. 💜

Meet the Recycled Monster Master! 🎨 👹

This Friday 7th November 10am to 1pm!

We couldn’t be prouder of participant, Darren Horsfield, who proves that one person’s trash is another’s terrifyingly terrific art!

During his weekly art classes with Shonah, Darren has channelled his passion for a cleaner environment into an installation of over 100 unique monster sculptures, all created from plastic litter found across the Hunter region.
These imaginative creatures form the incredible “Recycled Monster Art” exhibition, currently running at Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG). It’s an inspiring look at how creativity can tackle a huge issue, considering only about 13% of the 3.5 million tonnes of plastic Australia consumes each year is actually recycled.

Want to meet the artist and join the mission? Darren will be setting up his studio in The Project Space at MRAG and inviting you to join him in making art from discarded plastic!
