Meet Oaka — a bubbly and energetic support worker with maturity and patience well beyond her years. Since joining Hunter Disability Services
in 2025, we have absolutely loved watching her confidence, skills, and passion continue to flourish. It honestly feels like she has always been part of the HDS family! Oaka has a wonderful skill set when supporting neurodiverse participants and those with complex behaviours, and her calm, caring nature shines through in everything she does. We are so thrilled to have you on board, Oaka!

Meet Charlie 👋
Charlie is a support worker who has shown maturity well beyond his years. Since joining the industry, he has taken to the role like a duck to water, using his leadership, confidence and initiative to help participants engage in their local community and build meaningful connections.
Outside of work, Charlie is also an incredibly talented basketballer who has worked his way through the ranks to now proudly represent our beloved Maitland Mustangs. You’ll often spot some of Charlie’s participants on the sidelines at home games, proudly cheering him on! 🏀
If you’d like to catch Charlie in action on the court, the next exciting Double Header will be held on the 23rd and 24th May.
Great work, Charlie — we’re proud to have you as part of the team! 👏

Meet Ash!
A well established and experienced Support Worker with HDS.
Ash, is well known throughout the Upper Hunter due to being incredibly community minded, caring, and always ready to support those around her. She brings such a fun, positive energy wherever she goes and has a wonderful ability to make people laugh and feel comfortable. We’re so fortunate to have her as part of our Upper Hunter team!

Big congratulations to our long-term team member, Charley, on graduating! 🎓

Charley has now stepped into an exciting new role as a Registered Nurse working in a busy medical ward at John Hunter Hospital — an incredible achievement.

And never fear… Charley is still very much part of the HDS family, continuing to support the clients he knows and loves.

We’re so proud of you, Charley — what an amazing milestone! 👏

What an incredible Easter Fun Day! 🐣✨

A huge thank you to all our amazing guests and staff who came along, helped out, and made the day so special. From crafts and games to prizes, delicious treats, and even a visit from the Easter Bunny himself 🐰 — it was a day full of smiles and great memories!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Easter break.

🐾 Puppy & Kitten Time! 🐾

Simeon’s regular volunteer day at the Animal Shelter was extra special today.
He proudly helped set up a new enclosure for the puppies and carefully transferred them into their new space — a job he took very seriously (with plenty of cuddles along the way!).
