Throwback to earlier this month: on Thursday 2 April 2026, we celebrated a Very Happy Easter at Maitland Playgroup when we welcomed Mayor Philip Penfold to our playgroup in Maitland! We were thrilled that more than 30 children and families joined us for this joyful Easter celebration! 🐰🐣

It was Mayor Philip’s first visit to our long‑running playgroup at Maitland Presbyterian Church, and we loved showing him what makes this space so special.
For the past six years, our free playgroup has been led by our highly experienced Early Childhood Teachers and Allied Health Therapists, and has welcomed hundreds of families from across the Maitland LGA.

Each week, 20–30 children come together to explore, play, learn, and connect through a wide range of activities designed for all abilities. From music and messy play to today’s highlight - an energetic Easter Egg Hunt - there’s always something to spark joy. 🎶🙌🏽

What truly sets our playgroup apart is the community it creates.
It’s a place where:
🌟 Parents can meet others, especially those who may be new to town, new to parenthood, or feeling socially isolated
🧸 Children can play in a safe, inclusive, nurturing environment
🤝 Local families can build friendships and support networks that last well beyond the toddler years.

Whether you’ve just moved to Maitland or you’re a local looking for a friendly space to bring your little one, we’d love to welcome you into our community.

We've been busy these school holidays, cooking up a storm!🥰
One of our clients created some of his favourite mini pizzas from scratch, including hand-made pizza dough with one of our dietitians! This is a fun and hands on way to increase confidence and build independence and self-care for all ages!

🌟Our Accredited Practicing Dietitians (APD) are all specialist nutrition experts with at least four years of university training. We provide evidence-based, personalised nutrition counselling. Our team specialises in supporting people with disabilities to achieve their goals through client-centred nutrition plans.

Dietitians work in a diverse range of settings including private practice, community, hospitals, food industry, sporting bodies, public health and media.

Our 5-week baby group is led by an accredited APA Paediatric Physiotherapist, offering simple, evidence-based guidance on tummy time, play, movement and early milestones – all easy to fit into everyday life.

Swallowing is how we move food and drinks from our mouth to our stomach - and for some people, this isn’t easy or safe.
Dysphagia is difficulty swallowing. It can affect people of all ages and can make impact 🍽️ nutrition, 💧 hydration, health and quality of life.

👩‍⚕️ Speech Pathologists help people eat and drink safely by:
✅ Checking how swallowing works
✅ Suggesting safer ways to eat and drink
✅ Recommending the right food and drink textures

At ConnectAbility encompassing Early Links, our Speech Pathologists work with Dietitians to support safe, positive mealtimes. If you or someone you support is having trouble with eating or drinking, get in touch to learn more - www.earlylinks.org.au
