Our Story

Hip Pocket Workwear & Safety was founded in the central Victorian country town of Bendigo in 1993. We loved the idea of bringing Hip Pocket to the Hunter, so we opened the doors to the Hip Pocket Wallsend store in 2009. In 2014 we opened our Maitland store (Liz was born in Maitland), and in 2017 we took the opportunity to purchase a long-standing corporate clothing business which we have brought over to our other two stores. We regularly chat with the 47 other Hip Pocket store owners throughout Australia. Whilst we have the national buying power of a large group, we will always keep a local, community focus.

We are proud of our expertise and passion, and we give each customer an individually tailored solution to their work wear needs - whatever the workplace.

We stock a huge range of clothing, footwear & safety gear to cater to all workplaces. Whether you need items that are appropriate to an industrial area, health care, hospitality or the corporate world, we’ve got you covered. Our in store services include embroidery, heat press and sublimation.
