A quote I often use in mental health trainings.

Part of upskilling is being compassionate with yourself for past mistakes and short comings.

It can be utterly devastating to learn about mental health intervention….and realise you’ve been tackling it in a well intended but unhelpful way.

I do this work because I have gotten it wrong! I have missed opportunities to connect with someone, going through it, because I had no idea how to respond. So I did the best with what I had.

Forgiving ourselves for getting it wrong and investing in getting it right. When we know better, we do better.

In the meantime, go easy on yourself.

✨✨Happiest of holidays everyone✨✨

It can be a joy-filled time of connection, but also a taxing time of year.
Look after yourselves, as much as you look after your loved ones.

Don’t wait for motivation. It’s like waiting for a cloudless sky. It’ll happen occasionally but not reliable. If you can’t get 100% done, go for 2%. Just show up for yourself, the rest is just details. Don’t wait for motivation, start on creating habits. Habits that start at 2% and grow. Habits that start as a sense of achievement and grow into inspiration. Nothing builds self worth like inspiring yourself! So don’t wait for the perfect conditions, 2% it.

This week the staff at Genesis Research completed Mental Health First Aid to ensure that they are supporting all of their research participants, as best as they can. Completing this training as a team also allows for the workplace to become better equipped at supporting the whole workforce. It was a delight to meet this great group and the course was deepened by their insight and experience. Algee bear has a new home, greeting participants as they come in the door at Genesis!

We are beyond excited fort this New Frontline Yoga Strength class, starting at Junto Men's hub (women welcome) with Kate Airmid.

The class will be on Wednesday nights, 5:30pm in Adamstown. Whilst this is a new class, Kate is certainly not new to teaching with Frontline, she is one of the Co-Founders and has been dedicated to teaching Yoga to our community for over a decade.

Kate specialises in teaching Yoga to those who don't think they are very good at it, often saying "as long as you leave feeling better than when you arrived, you're nailing it".

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early if you are a beginner or working around injuries.

Book into Kate's class on our website frontlineyoga.com.au/attend

Not just for kids! A lot of us didn’t have an upbringing where emotions were supported and even given names. A lot of us are also doing the work as adults, to increase our emotional intelligence. Labelling our emotions is a whole skill set that often needs to be practiced and developed. A great start is the feelings wheel (google image for a copy that works for you). It’s not childish to articulate your emotional state, it’s top shelf emotional intelligence/EQ.

Ever wondered what lies at the heart of Sprout and Bean Yoga?

The mission behind the mats? What gets us out of bed in the morning?

As the Director, I have always had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted to put out into the world.

Start with individual connection, help families find space and connection and finally be an active and charitable part of the local community.

Although Yoga has taken me all over the place, I keep returning to my roots in Maitland. One of the things that most brings me great joy, is seeing families come together to enjoy Yoga. Meeting people out in the community and hearing how their shared practice has brought wonderful changes into their lives.
