Progressive Pics Welcome to Progressive Pics. FAQ - PLEASE READ
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? Maleny - Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland. WHAT DO YOU OFFER? WHO CAN ATTEND? No.

This is a place for people living with a disability to first and foremost learn the art of photography through tailored workshops/lessons, and participate in on-location photo shoots. I am an experienced support worker and professional photographer who offers personalised Photography Lessons/Workshops and Photography Based Activities around the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland. The lessons and activities have been designed to fill a unique gap in support and activity provision on the Sunshine Coast. I offer one-on-one outings for individuals who are NDIS Funded. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? Please bring along a water bottle and your camera body with any lenses you own. If you do not own a camera, you will have access to one during the session. WHAT WILL I LEARN? You will learn the BASICS of photography and how to use your camera. Please note: The BASICS Lessons/Workshops are tailored to individual learning styles. This will be something we will go over in our meet and greet so I can determine how best to support you in your photography learning journey. BASICS WORKSHOP TOPICS
• How the camera works.
• Understanding exposure.
• Aperture and depth of field.
• Shutter speed
• ISO, megapixels and sensors.
• Focus.
• White balance.
• Shooting in Manual mode
• Camera lenses and focal length
• The importance of understanding light.
• Photography composition. And finally, how to monetise from your new found photography skill. (My aim at the end of the year is for the participants to be a part of an exhibition to showcase and ultimately sell their artworks.) WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY OF THE OUTING? I will be offering x3 TWO hour sessions per day. I will aim to collect you from your house or pre-arranged location from 9am (dependent on participant numbers on the day and topic of the week) and return you around 11am (depends on pickup locations and destination/shoot for the day). Or an afternoon session from 12pm till 2pm THEN 3pm till 5pm. The locations and activities are weather dependent and subject to change. Every day is different and my goal is that you have fun and enjoy yourself whilst learning about your camera and photography. Some lessons and shoots will take place at night time or early mornings dependent on the topic of the week. (weather permitted)
DO YOU OFFER TRANSPORT? I have the capacity to transport a maximum of x1 participant at a time. If you require an accessible vehicle, you will be responsible for your own transport to the weekly Lesson/Activity location. WHAT DAYS DO YOU OPERATE? I currently offer weekly day trips each Monday and Tuesday. Weekends and alternative weekdays are available on request.
*Due to the high interest that I have received, and also to avoid any COVID-19 restrictions that may pop up, the lessons/workshops will be limited to 1 participant at a time. This also allows the sessions to be as personalised as possible and hopefully accommodate most participants availability. CAN MY PARTNER/FRIEND/CARER COME? Yes, I encourage your regular carer/partner/friend to support you if required. Please note: Participants who engage in one-on-one lessons need not bring along their regular carer if they do not wish to do so. I am qualified and have had many years’ experience working with a range of disabilities and complex needs (medications and dietary needs included i.e., PEG Feeding)
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME? Putting your new found photography knowledge to practice, each participant will be given at the end of each workshop, a small task to complete for the week. Each homework assignment will be of the same topic as the lesson completed that day. Please note: These assignments are purely for you to have fun and get to know your camera at home. They are not graded, but if you wish, I can offer you constructive advice to further assist your photography learning journey. I would encourage you all to share your HOMEWORK on the Progressive Pics page. ARE YOU A REGISTERED NDIS PROVIDER? I am what is termed an Unregistered Provider. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A NDIS REGISTERED PROVIDER AND AN UNREGISTERED PROVIDER? For NDIS participants, the main difference is that you can only access unregistered providers if your NDIS plan is Plan Managed or Self-Managed. If your plan is managed by the NDIA, you are limited to only access NDIS registered providers. Whether a provider is NDIS registered or not, that does not change the level or quality of support they provide, it only dictates who can access them. If you Self Manage your NDIS plan, I will send my invoices to you to pay and you will then have to manually claim the funds back from the NDIS using the NDIS portal. If you're Plan Managed, your Plan Manager will do this for you. Most of the smaller, unregistered providers, such as Progressive Pics, provide a more unique, personal experience for participants, are highly dedicated and passionate about the services they offer while also having a wealth of experience gained from working in the disability/mental health sector for many years within large organisations. ARE YOUR SERVICES COVERED UNDER THE NDIS? Yes, you can use your funding for this service. I can invoice against the NDIS categories called ‘Assistance with Social and Community Participation’ or ‘Increased Social and Community Participation’. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? These services are billed at the rates recommended by the relevant NDIS category. Morning tea and afternoon tea as well as extra drinks are provided throughout the day without charge (most dietary requirements accommodated with notice), or bring your own. HOW DO I BOOK? Once you decide to proceed, I will setup a meet and greet with you. During the meet and greet I will assist you to complete some necessary paperwork (this can be emailed prior to our meeting). You will then be emailed the weekly lesson/workshop itinerary and location. OTHER QUESTIONS. Most questions will be addressed during the meet and greet. Feel free to email me any questions not covered here and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
