Noah's Ark Inc.

Noah's Ark Inc. Noah's Ark supports families in Victoria, ACT, New South Wales and surrounding areas. They established toy libraries for children with a disability.

In 1971, we started as the Noah’s Ark Toy Library for Handicapped Children, run by a small group of parents of children with a disability. At the time, families were beginning to refuse to put their children with disabilities into institutional care and institutions stopped admitting young children. Noah’s Ark co-founder Annetine Forell, a parent of a child with a disability, as well as co-founder

Mary Glue, saw the need for family support. The service recognised the importance of play in a child’s development and provided a place for families to discuss the challenges of parenting. Today, Noah’s Ark is a not-for-profit community organisation based in Victoria and the ACT, Australia. We offer a range of services and programs that support families who have a child (aged 0-8) with a disability or additional needs. At Noah’s Ark we work closely with children with a disability, their families and the services they participate in. We recognise that parents are experts on their own child and we provide them with information and support that enables them to make informed decisions. We employ more than 220 staff and deliver services to more than 2000 families across Victoria and the ACT. Noah’s Ark works with families, educators and policy-makers.

Every 'yes,' 'no,' or 'I want' is a building block of who they are. When we support agency, we aren't just teaching skills; we are honoring their right to choose their own path, no matter how they communicate.

Join our FREE* My Child’s Choices online workshops. Places are filling for May and June!

These workshops explore why supporting our children to be involved in discussions and decision-making is important, both now and for their future.

Sessions are open to all parents and carers of children and young people, from babies to teenagers.

*Free places are available, thanks to funding from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Grants Program.

Last Wednesday, a wide range of Noah’s Ark staff came together to celebrate the organisation’s time in Bundoora and to honour Josie Pinti, who retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service.

The Bundoora team created a truly special celebration, warmly supported by colleagues from across other offices who have worked alongside them over the years. The event was filled with connection, gratitude and shared memories, recognising the incredible contributions of many individuals.

The team recently relocated to a commercial hub in South Morang, enabling continued support for families in Melbourne’s northern suburbs and closer collaboration with local allied health services. The team continues to use the Key Worker model to support children where they live, learn, and play.

Families came together for a wonderful day of fun, connection, and community at our recent Noah’s Ark Springvale event, thanks to a grant from the City of Greater Dandenong.

Children explored, played, and engaged with the many activities on offer while parents connected with local services, and each other.

We were thrilled to be joined by the Springvale Library, the Toy Library, Advocating for Children with a Disability (ACD), and Riding for the Disabled Moorabbin, who all shared the fantastic supports they provide to families in our community. Their presence added so much value to the day.

And of course, Fairy Rosie stole the show. Her magic, energy, and sparkle had the children absolutely captivated.

It was a beautiful reminder of what happens when community comes together — laughter, learning, and a whole lot of joy.

School refusal in autistic children is rarely about not wanting to go to school. More often, it's a sign that something at school isn't working: sensory demands, social pressure, an unsupported classroom, or anxiety that's been building over time. Knowing that changes how you respond.

This article from Autism Australia covers what to look for, how to talk to the school, and what to do when the usual strategies aren't enough.

Noah’s Ark provides the best therapy and education for your child with a disability or additional needs. We recognise the very important role that families play in their children’s health and development.

Noah’s Ark currently provides services to children 0 – 8 years of age and will continue to work with clients who have an existing relationship with us until 12 years of age. Children new to Noah’s Ark from the age of 8 and over will be considered based on a prior relationship with Noah’s Ark or a sibling of a current client. At Noah’s Ark we work closely with children with a disability, their families and the services they participate in.
