Slowing down tonight with some facial Gua Sha and some hot tea. A little self care ritual and a gentle reminder that slowing down is productive too 🩷

This is what body Gua sha looks like.

It moves stagnation, releasing muscles that feel blocked or trapped, it's a deep fascial release.

The tool, slightly thinner than a facial gua sha, is pressed firmly along the skin and muscles to move stagnant Qi and Blood, allowing both to flow freely.
This is when tension melts, heat, and stress are released, leaving the body feeling lighter.

The red marks you see are called ‘sha’
A sign that stagnation is being released, heat and tension are clearing, and circulation is improving.

Gua sha also helps clear metabolic waste such as lactic acid that accumulates in overworked muscles and brings fresh, oxygenated blood to the tissues.

A simple yet powerful technique for immediate relief.
Could body Gua sha be what your body needs right now? This technique is incorporated within acupuncture treatments.

Light Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. Depending on the colour of the light, it can pe*****te through different dermal layers to encourage cellular repair, reduce inflammation, act as an antimicrobial treatment and more.

There are multiple light options available, offering therapeutic benefits to support skin health, wound healing, pain and circulation.

💥 Red Light accelerates the body’s natural healing response for pain, injury, and recovery.

💙 Blue light targets acne and inflammation, promoting a clearer complexion.

🌳 Green light soothes redness and helps even out skin tone.

💫 Yellow light revitalises tired or dull skin and supports lymphatic flow.

Each wavelength of light carries its own therapeutic qualities, allowing your treatment to be combined with acupuncture or facial treatments, allowing deeper healing and repair.

This is now avaliable as an add-on and is only applicable to the face.

Electro-acupuncture is similar to regular acupuncture but with a gentle electrical current flowing through the needles. This stimulates the nerve pathways that carry pain signals.

This stimulation blocks pain by activating natural pain relievers such as endorphins, serotonin and norepinephrine. Your body's natural pain killers/ mood balancing chemicals.

The results of electroacupuncture can lead to reduced inflammation, increased blood circulation, reduced sensitivity for persistent pain and relaxation.

Electro-acupuncture treatments are adjusted to suit your body and sensitivity, you're expected to feel a gentle buzzing and tingle where the needles are placed and its usually very relaxing.

Begin your year feeling lighter, moving more freely and away from pain ✨️

Acupuncture – Dose and Frequency for Pain Relief

How long and how often should acupuncture be applied for chronic pain?

This can be a tricky question, as pain is subjective, emotionally tethered, and often influenced by factors such as repetitive strain or past injury/ surgeries.

Pain relief can present as a reduction in sensations such as dullness, aching, throbbing, sensitivity, or sharpness. However, to truly measure improvement, we should also consider function, mobility, and overall quality of life - how a person moves, sleeps, and engages in daily activities as pain subsides.

A review on appropriate acupuncture treatment schedules for chronic pain found that higher pain relief rates occurred with treatments delivered at least twice per week for around 30 minutes per session, over an average course of 8 weeks.
Evidence also showed that pain relief often lasted up to 18 weeks before gradually diminishing, suggesting that the effects of acupuncture are cumulative and best maintained through consistent, ongoing treatment.

In practice, most people experience the greatest benefit with regular sessions early on (for example, once or twice weekly), followed by maintenance treatments spaced further apart as symptoms improve and stabilise.

~ Fire Cupping ~

If you’ve experienced fire cupping before, you’ll know it creates a gentle warmth and a soothing suction over the skin and muscles.

It often leaves light red or purple marks, this a normal sign that your body is responding and releasing stagnation of the blood.

The suction and sliding helps to increase local blood flow, and dispel stagnation or pathogenic factors such as wind, cold, and damp.

Fire cupping is used in treatments to ease muscle tension, support circulation, lymphatic flow and immune regulation.
