Fired Up People welcomes Brooke Perrin to the team!

Since completing her Bachelor in Health Science and a Master in Speech Pathology, Brooke has spent a large amount of time working with clients in all stages of the life span.

From both paediatric and adult caseloads, her aim is always to assist her clients to achieve their communication goals in ways that are fun and functional for them and their support network. Brooke’s ability to make quick connections with her clients makes for fun and enjoyable sessions, that have her clients leaving the clinic with confidence and many tips and tricks up their sleeve to continue to progress their goals.

Brooke has experience in the private, school-based and hospital settings, working with her client’s family, teachers, colleagues and other allied health professionals to ensure a comprehensive and team-based approach to therapy to guarantee maximum outcomes for her clients. She has gained a large skill set in areas including but not limited to social skills over the lifespan, speech sound development and production, receptive, expressive and oral language development and maintenance, voice, stuttering, literacy and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).

Not only has Brooke gained ample experience working 1:1 with her clients in various settings, but she has also run a large number of groups with preschool age, school age and adult clients. These groups have been run in areas including social skills, language skills, literacy and letter sound development, corporate networking and soft skills, and vocal health.

Fired Up People welcomes Talya Sack to the team!

Talya is an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a passion for improving quality of life, promoting participation and engagement, and achieving the best possible outcomes with her clients and their families.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Occupational Therapy Practice, Talya has gained experience working and volunteering in a range of pediatric settings around the world. Prior to starting at Fired Up People, Talya worked with children with a variety of diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Sensory Processing Disorder and Down Syndrome. Her interest areas include fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, emotional regulation, self-care and school readiness. Her practice approach has a strong focus on client-centered care, effective goal setting and evidence-based practice.

Talya is passionate about supporting children to participate in meaningful occupations and finding creative ways to provide therapy strategies within different settings. She enjoys working in collaboration with families, therapists and other supports to achieve the child’s goals.

Talya is committed to continually growing and developing her skills as an Occupational Therapist so that she can deliver the best therapy outcomes for her clients and families.

Fired Up People welcomes Jocelyn Jiang to the team!

Jocelyn is an Occupational Therapist who completed her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University. Jocelyn is a fun, energetic, and motivated clinician who is fluent in English and Mandarin. She is passionate about working with families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Jocelyn has worked across private practice, mainstream school, and community health centres. She has provided therapy to children with a variety of difficulties in areas of fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, emotion regulation, social skills, self-cares, Autism Spectrum Disorder as well as assisting families with positive behaviour management strategies. Jocelyn provides client-centered, family-orientated practice as she believes the therapy goals should be meaningful and practical in order to optimise therapy outcomes. Her favourite thing is witnessing children achieve their full potential and increase their self-confidence.
Jocelyn places a high value on evidence-based practice and her therapy sessions are designed to be fun and creative whilst meeting the specific needs and interests of each child.

Jocelyn has a commitment to learning and loves to participate in ongoing professional development to further extend her clinical skills.

So it may not be the Grand Opening we were imagining but we are pleased to be opening our vigilantly sanitised Sensory Facility for the following:
• OPEN PLAY SESSIONS with just 10 Kids
• PRIVATE HIRE SESSIONS
• RESPITE SESSION

Strict VIC HEALTH COVID Procedures are in place and the NDIS is supporting these sessions for their participants.

Our Sessions are suitable for children of all ages and abilities. For older teens and young adults, we'd recommend our Private Hire Sessions.

Alona gained extensive experience working with paediatric and adult caseloads in both the private and public sectors. She has developed a wide range of transferable skills in the areas of speech, language, literacy, fluency and social skills and is passionate about working with people of all ages to help them achieve their communicative needs. Having completed her Masters degree in Speech Pathology at LaTrobe University, Alona brings fresh ideas, passion and enthusiasm to our practice. Throughout her degree,

Alona values working individually with clients, alongside the opportunities she has to up-skill parents and caregivers in order maximise therapy outcomes. She strives to create an exciting therapeutic environment that is both nurturing and stimulating.

Alona’s experience includes The LaTrobe Communication clinic, which have focused on assessment and intervention in paediatric speech and language, as well as treatment and management of stuttering. Alfred Health Caulfield Hospital and Monash Health Kingston Centre, which have encompassed assessment, intervention and management of dysphagia, aphasia, dysarthria and voice deficits, as well as clinical work across various primary schools, working towards improving literacy skills in education. Alona has also volunteered at organisations such as Flying Fox and Friendship Circle, which provide social opportunities for children with disabilities.

Occupational Therapist
Meg is a paediatric occupational therapist who has a particular interest in early childhood intervention and school readiness. She has a Bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Occupational Therapy Practice. Since completing her studies at La Trobe University and the University of Florida in 2017 she has worked in paediatric practices in regional Queensland and metropolitan Melbourne.
She works with children with a variety of diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Sensory Processing Disorder and Down Syndrome. She has also developed specific skills and knowledge for fine and gross motor delays, and how these impact on participation in activities of daily living. She is passionate about family-centred practice, encouraging and helping children to reach their full potential through focused and fun therapy in all settings.
