.net.au share some valuable information and tips on how to prevent and treat Influenza. The flu, or influenza, is an infectious disease caused by the influenza virus, which triggers annual epidemics. The most common strains are types A and B.

Type A can cause pandemics, as seen with the Spanish flu of 1918, due to its high mutation rate and ability to infect various animals. Type B is generally less severe and mostly affects humans, leading to seasonal outbreaks.

Each year, the flu impacts millions, imposing health care and economic burdens. In the U.S., it leads to thousands of hospitalizations and deaths annually. Vaccination and hygiene practices, like hand washing and mask-wearing during flu season, are crucial for controlling its spread.

👓

The prevalence of myopia among 12-year-olds has doubled in six years due to increased screen time. This rise in screen exposure harms children's eye health, causing strain, blurred vision, and headaches, worsening nearsightedness.

Reduced outdoor activities, important for eye development, add to the issue since natural light is vital for good vision. Promoting healthier screen habits and more outdoor time is essential to protect young people's eyesight.

Health Advisory: Measles Cases Increasing from

With a surge in measles cases both globally and within Australia, it is advisable to verify if everyone in your household has had a minimum of two measles vaccine doses, especially those born between 1966 and 1992 or those who immigrated to Australia.

Infants, particularly those who have not been vaccinated, are susceptible to severe illness. Ensure you adhere to your child’s vaccination schedule and consult your physician prior to any international travel.

If your child shows symptoms of a rash following a fever, cough, runny nose, or red, inflamed eyes, especially after recent overseas travel or contact with a confirmed measles case, please consult your doctor.

"What temperature is dangerous?"
"When should I take my child to the hospital?"

🥶 A low temperature doesn't always mean everything is fine – it could signal something more concerning.

What truly matters is how your child looks, acts, and responds.
