This morning was cold. It was raining. It was dark. But I have a half marathon to run on Sunday. It will be dark. It will possibly be raining. So I got out of the car and started jogging slowly. I started to feel ok. So I jogged a bit more and a little faster. I started to feel even better. About 5mins later, I was enjoying myself and it didn’t bother me that it was drizzling. 5mins. That’s all it took to go from “I don’t want to do this” to “I fell great, I really should do this more often in the dark”.
The peacefulness of running early in the morning is wonderful for stress relief. Even better was the rainbow at the end 🌈. And the hot shower afterwards, well that was super rewarding! I now have the day ahead of me to work, pack and get ready for my trip, and I feel good about it. What 5min activity can you do today to get your blood flowing?
