It’s World Breastfeeding Week 💛
I thought I’d breastfeed both my babies for longer than I did.
But life had other plans.
And today I realised… I don’t think I have a single photo of myself breastfeeding.
Maybe it felt too raw at the time.
Maybe I just didn’t think to capture it.
Either way, it’s a part of my story.
For some, feeding comes easily.
For others, it’s a constant uphill climb.
Some choose to mix feed.
Some pump around the clock.
Some breastfeed for years.
Some stop earlier than they imagined.
Some never start at all, and that’s okay too.
There’s no “right” way… only the way that works for you and your baby.
If your feeding journey didn’t look the way you’d hoped, you’re not alone.
This week is about compassion, support, and letting go of the idea that there’s only one way to do it.
And if you’d like extra support, Elaine (Lactation consultant and midwife) at Nest Medical Women & Children's Health runs breastfeeding classes before bub is born, and can be there to help in those tricky days after too.
However you feed your baby, you deserve kindness and respect. 🫶
