A warm, gentle space for connection, celebration, and community.

đź’› A Message of Gratitude

This year has been one of growth, courage, creativity, learning, and real human connection.
And none of this would have been possible without each and every one of you.

To our staff:

Thank you for showing up with heart, honesty, and commitment.
Your support has held people together in ways you may never fully see, but deeply matter.

To our volunteers:

Thank you for giving your time, your energy, your creativity, and your love to this community.
Your presence lights up the Hub.

To our participants and community members:

Thank you for trusting this space, for being real, for learning, for trying, for showing courage even on the hard days.
You are the reason this place exists.

🎄 Wishing You a Beautiful Christmas

From my heart to yours —
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with warmth, rest, gentle joy, and moments that remind you of your own strength.

May the holiday season bring you connection, comfort, and peace.
May the new year meet you with hope, possibility, and soft places to land.

Thank you for being part of The Mindshift Hub family.
You matter.
You are appreciated.
And you are loved here.

With gratitude and warmth,

🦋RADICAL ACCEPTANCE – MY REAL LIFE REFLECTION 🦋

Radical Acceptance is one of the hardest DBT skills I’ve ever had to learn — because it’s not about loving the situation, liking it, or pretending it’s “meant to be.”
It’s about facing the truth of what is happening right now, even when every part of your body wants to fight it.

For me, Radical Acceptance looks nothing like peace at the beginning.
It looks like:
• my chest tight
• my mind raging
• my body exhausted
• me wanting to run, fight, scream, or shut down
• feeling like “this shouldn’t be happening”

But that fight is what keeps me suffering.

Radical Acceptance is the moment I stop wrestling with the reality in front of me — not because it’s fair, not because I’m okay with it, but because fighting the facts is making me drown.

It sounds like this inside my head:

“I don’t like this.
I didn’t choose this.
But this is what’s happening right now.
And I can save my strength for what I can change next.”

And every time I do that — even if it takes me a few tries, even if I do it angrily — something small shifts.
My breathing eases.
My body softens a little.
My brain stops spinning long enough to think clearly again.
I get space to decide my next step instead of reacting from panic or pain.

Radical Acceptance isn’t softness.
It isn’t surrender.
It’s strength.
It’s taking your power back from the fight you can’t win.

It’s saying:

“This is the moment I’m in.
I don’t have to like it.
But I can handle it.”

And every time I practice it — even when it’s messy — I prove to myself that I can survive moments I never thought I could.

🦋 Living With What People Don’t See 🦋

People may think I wake up and just live.
I don’t.
I wake up and start negotiating with my brain.

Mental illness isn’t something I recover from.
It’s something I navigate, withstand, and move through every day.
There’s no cure — only the capacity I have in each moment.

Some mornings my mood is already decided for me —
flat, foggy, restless, or blank.
Other days it’s the opposite: my emotions are high and running on full throttle —
racing thoughts, too fast, too intense,
like a bull at a gate I can’t rein in.
And then there are days where I’m emotionally flat with a side of anger,
a quiet heaviness mixed with irritation I can’t explain.

Then the symptoms arrive like weather:
• triggers I can’t predict
• flashbacks I didn’t ask for
• memory gaps that swallow time
• dissociation that pulls me out of my own life
• the weight of taking 19 medications a day, starting with my first coffee
• anxiety tightening my chest before I even sit up

And people don’t realise how much this affects everything —
how I think, how I move, how I speak, how I connect.

Some days, the simple idea of seeing people feels impossible.
Not because I don’t care,
but because anxiety convinces me I’ll say the wrong thing,
be too quiet, too awkward, too much, or not enough.

Some weeks, I see doctors more than I see my friends.
Not because I want that —
but because survival takes priority over socialising.

And some days, the only place I feel safe enough to go
is a doctor’s or specialist’s office.
I avoid stores, crowds, and small talk —
but I can find the strength to show up for appointments
because they feel structured, predictable, and necessary.

And then there are the moments where I get completely trapped —
where the words are in my head,
but they won’t come out of my mouth
no matter how hard I tell my brain to speak.

Even the simplest tasks carry invisible costs —
making a coffee, taking a shower, replying to a message,
opening the blinds, stepping outside.

Some days are full of losses:
fatigue that pins me down,
overwhelm that steals my breath,
shutdowns that swallow hours,
intentions I never get the energy to meet.

But some days… I get wins:
I shower.
I cook.
I breathe.
I stay present.
I speak to someone.
I leave the house.
I make that coffee — and actually drink it.

No one sees the difference between a good day and a bad one —
but I feel it deeply.

I don’t get cured.
I manage.
I cope.
I endure.

🦋 And that’s why I built The Mindshift Hub.
Not to “fix” people — but to give us a place to breathe.

A place where symptoms aren’t judged,
where effort is respected,
and where people are met exactly where they are.

Our gentle, evidence-based programs include:
🦋 Creative Art — when the mind needs quiet
🦋 No-Bake Cooking — when confidence needs gentle wins
🦋 Dance & Movement — when emotion is stored in the body
🦋 DBT-Based Skills — when survival needs a strategy

If you read this and thought “That’s me,”
you’re not alone in your mind —
and you’re not walking invisible.

There is a place for us.

🦋 WISE MIND 🦋

This is where both sides meet.

When emotion and logic stop competing and finally work together — that moment of clarity, balance, and self-awareness.

It’s not perfect or permanent.
It doesn’t mean life feels easy.
It just means you can feel what you feel,
and think at the same time.

It’s the space where you pause instead of react.
Where you respond, instead of explode or shut down.

Wise Mind is the middle path —
not too much, not too little, just aligned.

We move between all three.
Some days we’re all heart.
Some days we’re all logic.
And some days — even just for a moment — both show up together.

And that moment is where we grow.

On Monday at The Mindshift Hub, a small group sat together with old books, flowers, glue and imagination. With the guidance of Julie Mundy from One Crafty Lady, each person created something of their own — slowly, gently, and in good company.

There were refreshments to enjoy, calm music playing, and essential oils warm in the air. People chatted, concentrated, shared ideas, and took their time. No rush, no pressure — just a relaxed afternoon with good people and something creative to focus on.

Every finished piece in these photos is different because the people who made them are different — and that’s the beauty.

If this type of workshop feels like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to have you join us.
And if it’s not your style, that’s okay too — we run many different classes and have even more exciting workshops coming next year. Follow us here on Facebook or check our website to see what’s happening next.

🌿✨ DECEMBER AT THE MINDSHIFT HUB ✨🌿

From Nicole — Heart of The Mindshift Hub

December has arrived, and with it comes a gentle invitation to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and remember what really matters — community, kindness, connection, and the small moments of joy that carry us through.

This time of year can feel different for everyone.
For some, it’s bright and exciting.
For others, it’s heavy, emotional, or exhausting.
No matter where you’re at — you’re welcome here exactly as you are.

At The Mindshift Hub, December isn’t about big events or forced cheer.
It’s about:
✨ creating a safe corner of calm
✨ sharing moments that feel real
✨ being around people who “get it”
✨ enjoying creativity, colour, and connection
✨ taking pressure off, not adding more on

Whether you pop in for a workshop, join a session, sit with a cuppa, or just want to be around friendly faces for a little while — our doors are open, and you’re part of our community the moment you walk in.
No expectations. No pressure. Just people supporting people.

I’m grateful every single day for what this space has become — built from lived experience, held together by compassion, and strengthened by every person who walks through our doors.

Here’s to a December filled with gentle joy, gratitude for what we can do, and moments of peace we create together.

With love and heart,
Nicole 💛🦋
