Co-design session at Nidjalla Waangan Mia

On Monday July 14, 2025, we came together at Nidjalla Waangan Mia (NWM) for a co-design session focused on feedback from people with mental health lived experience and carers of people with mental health challenges. Through honest yarning and shared stories, community members spoke from the heart about the real needs and service gaps in our community. Together, we explored not just the challenges—but also the recommendations and pathways forward. It was a space full of respect, strength, and hope.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Oseca Health's incredible NWM staff, especially Uncle George Walley who facilitated the session, our Assertive Outreach Team (Jenni, Ashley, and Matt) and all the community members who joined us, shared so openly, and helped shape the future of support in our region.

These conversations are where change begins—and we’re grateful to walk this journey together 🖤💛❤️

GP down south is now Oseca!

We’re thrilled to formally launch our new identity – Oseca.

Our journey as GP down south has been remarkable, and we’ve grown in ways we couldn’t have imagined. As we look to the future, we wanted a name that better reflects our vision, values, and connection with our communities.

The Story Behind Oseca

While Oseca is a uniquely created word, it’s deeply inspired by the Greek word ‘Aceso’, which translates to ‘I’m listening’ – a reflection of our core mission to always listen to and support our communities. Aceso is also linked to well-being and the process of healing, values that lie at the heart of everything we do.

By reversing the letters of Aceso and creating something new, we’ve given Oseca its own identity – one with purpose and a meaningful story.

Our logo includes 3 multi-faceted arrows- representing clients, partners/stakeholders and Oseca entering a central hub together to create better health. The dynamic form and angle of the icon is reflective of the ‘No wrong doors’ ethos and portrays energy and wellness.

What changes can you expect?

Our locations, referral processes, and dedication to delivering compassionate, high-quality care will remain just as you know them. What’s new is a fresh identity, filled with the promise of an even brighter future. Our documents and signage will transition to the Oseca brand over the first 3 months of 2025.

We’re incredibly proud of the journey we’ve taken as GP down south. To everyone who has supported us along the way – thank you. As Oseca, we honor our past while eagerly embracing the road ahead. Together, we’ll continue to make a positive impact on our community.

Let’s celebrate this exciting new chapter – we can’t wait to hear what you think!

The countdown is on... from 1 January 2025, GP down south will be known as Oseca.

We have the same fantastic team, locations and services- just a new, fresh name and logo. Our new name Oseca originates from a Greek word, with the meaning of "I'm listening". Our new logo represents our team, clients and stakeholders entering a central hub together, to create better health.

🌼World Su***de Prevention Day - September 10th🌼

Tragically, over 3,000 Australians lose their lives to su***de every year. In 2022, 381 Australian young people (aged 24 years and under) took their own lives. That is 381 of our children, mates, family, fellow students, team mates.

Through connection, compassion, and hope, we can unite to raise awareness, overcome stigma, and prevent further deaths by su***de.

Together, we can ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.

💚We all have a role to play!💚

If you or someone you know is struggling, there are resources available:
Lifeline Australia: 13 11 14 – 24-hour crisis support and su***de prevention.
Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636 – Mental health support, information, and resources.
Headspace: 1800 650 890- Support for young people aged 12-25.
Su***de Call Back Service: 1300 659 467 – 24/7 phone and online counseling.
Kids Helpline: 1800 55 1800 – 24/7 phone and online counseling for young people aged 5 to 25.

Remember, reaching out for help is a sign of strength – there are people ready to support you.
