She’s done it again! We are proud beyond words to share that Nicole Giblett has been named the 2025 Apple and Pear Australia Limited - APAL Woman in Agriculture and will receive her award at the upcoming 2025 APAL Awards for Excellence celebration evening in Goulburn Valley on Monday 4 August.

This award is one of the highest national honours in our industry recognising not just leadership but legacy. It’s given to those who don’t just contribute to Australian horticulture but shape its future- and Nicole does exactly that.

For years Nicole has quietly but powerfully led Newton Orchards through change, challenge and growth. Her leadership is not about being the loudest voice in the room- it’s about listening, backing people, standing firm in her values and never losing sight of what matters: quality, community, and doing right by the land and the people who work it.

In 2022 she was named APAL Marketer of the year and she is honoured once again not just for what she does, but for how she does it.

And her work continues to be recognised throughout the broader horticultural community- for those who missed our last post Nicole is also a finalist for the 2025 Hort Connections NAB Women in Horticulture Award to be announced this Friday evening in Brisbane.

Whether it’s in the orchard, packing shed, boardroom or the broader industry Nicole leads with integrity, humility and heart. We are incredibly lucky to have her and so proud to see her receive the recognition she so deeply deserves!

Congratulations Nicole and to all the exceptional finalists across both awards- Our industry is stronger because of you!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our director Nicole Giblett has been named a finalist for the 2025 NAB Women in Horticulture Award at this year’s Hort Connections - the awards recognising leadership and excellence across our industry at national level.

To those who know Nicole this comes as no surprise, She is the kind of leader who moves quietly but powerfully: never chasing accolades but chasing better outcomes.

This nomination places her among Australia’s finest and we couldn’t be prouder to see the woman behind Newton Orchards receive the recognition she so deeply deserves! The awards will be announced at the Gala Dinner in Brisbane this June and we’ll be watching, celebrating and cheering her on! 💚🍏

We’d also like to extend our congratulations to all the outstanding finalists across every category- your passion, dedication and commitment continue to shape the future of horticulture in Australia.

Kanzi apples are more than just fruit, they’re a blissful taste experience with their combo of a crisp crunch, balance of sweetness and tang and vibrant red colouring they’re the ultimate choice for those who love quality and flavour!

A cross between the sweet Gala and tangy Braeburn these apples are bold, refreshing and endlessly versatile: perfect for snacking, baking or salads. Locally grown and now in season, Kanzi means “hidden treasure” in Swahili and with their exceptional taste they’re truly a gem worth discovering… 👏

We’re slicing up at the Donneybrook Apple Festival- and it’s free!

These apples might have a few spots, bumps or bruises, but don’t be fooled: they’re still crisp, sweet, and packed with flavour.
Imperfect apples often get overlooked or thrown out, adding to food waste even though there’s absolutely nothing wrong with them and theyre still packed with flavanoids, fibre amd vitamins!

So come grab a slice, help fight food waste and celebrate the perfectly imperfect with us! Say hi to Nadia and the team from Pomewest Grower Page , explore the many stalls with awesome apple themed goodies, or head over to the kids’ tent to and hear Dr Helen Cripps read her beautiful apple book.

Because every apple has a story and we’re proud to .

Today we celebrate a true legend of the orchard’s 81st birthday! Harvey Giblett has dedicated his life to the land, his family and the community guiding Newton Orchards through decades of change, challenge and growth. His knowledge, work ethic and vision have helped shape not only our orchards but the wider Manjimup growing region.

From early mornings among the rows of apples and avocados to his tireless advocacy for growers across WA, Harvey continues to inspire the next generation with his passion and perseverance and even now at 81 years old can still be found among the apple tree rows he loves and calls home.

Wishing you a wonderful day Harvey and thankyou for everything you’ve done and continue to do for Newton Orchards and the industry we love. 🥳

We were so excited to join in the fun at the Hyde Park Festival for the first time this year. 🤗🤗

Run by The Rotary Club of North Perth the festival is Perth’s longest-running free community event, and it certainly lived up to the hype. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

With over 50 food stalls, 200 market stalls, rides for all ages, live entertainment and fun for the whole family (including our furry friends 🐾), the festival brought together around 60,000 people over the Labour Day long weekend – and we were thrilled to be part of it.

At our stall, we served up tasty samples of our nom! recipe Chocolate Amazeballs and freshly made Coco Loco Balls 🍫🥥, handed out free apples from Newton Orchards of Manjimup & Manjimup Cider Co 🍎, and kept the little ones entertained with temporary tattoos and activities promoting healthy eating.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by and to our incredible volunteers – we couldn’t do it without you! 💜

At the Buy West Eat Best event held at Lakelands Shopping Centre on Thursday, Bernadette Marie had a chat with our director Nicole Giblett to discuss what makes our apples truly stand out- their versatility and freshness!

Nic also highlights the exceptional crunch and quality of Newton Orchards’ apples grown here at “The Home of Crunchy Apples” and used this opportunity to drive home the importance of proper storage: to and enjoy that fresh farm picked taste for longer!
