Healing takes time 🧘🏻‍♂️ It’s a tough path to choose as it takes sacrifice, honesty to yourself and acceptance ❤️ Let go of the judgement and expectations - treat yourself with the compassion you would afford to your loved ones

Much love,
Alex

Today message - Radically accept you, for where, who and what you are ❤️ Stop trying to be the version you wish you were, instead focus on where you are and how you can grow, heal and strengthen🧘‍♂️ ps: my sister is managing my online presence for me as I realise its value but cannot myself interact with it.

Much love

UPDATE NUMBER TWO (REFLECTION): Slowness and simplicity is truly fundamental for a life of presence 🧘‍♂️ Without actively trying to slow down and simplify life, mental clutter accumulates very quickly 🧠 Moreover, slowness and simplicity helps illuminate joy in the everyday moments, without the need for more.

Being slow and simple heightens our connection to self and the natural environment, something fundamental for our mental health care each and every day🌳

After 500+ days I removed the thickly locked hair and beard. What I learned from this was how quickly peoples response to me changed. The reality is I was judged, rejected and feared whenever I walked into populated places, all because of my facade. I had slurs called out, things chucked at me, the constant dead stares and complete rejection to premises…the key takeaway here is to start removing judgement and expectations and start seeing everyone just as yourself 🪞 After all, we are just a product of our environment, so why be hateful and judgemental? Be love ❤️

The first picture of my beard being is because I wanted to bring awareness to my buddy Jimmy who does a fantastic job at preserving our natural environment. To take it out of the hands of those who want to cut it all down for reasons like cattle grazing and give it to those who protect it ❤️

We know how restorative nature is, but after a year and half of getting to know it pretty intimately in extreme isolation, it truly is the only home we have. I believe we as humans have lost our sense of connection through casting dominion over everything - that is we think everything is here for us and not with us. Take a step back and start building your relationship with nature and just recognise the impact it has on your mental well-being 🧘‍♂️

Rebuild your symbiotic relationship with it. For example you could become aware about your food choices, pick up rubbish when you see it and start to choose a nature walk over a shopping mall. Less ego, more eco ❤️ Care for it and it’ll care for you.

It’s important when you are struggling that you choose small steps to help yourself where you can. That said, choose the sky over a screen ☀️

Day 470 (exactly 5 weeks ago): THE FINAL STRIDES HOME… After approximately walking 17000km around Australia for mens mental health and su***de awareness 🕺

All I ever did was wait one more minute and take one more step 👣

Although this was a solo, unsupported journey, it truly was anything but that. Everyone who met and helped me along the way and anyone who supported me from afar was with me every step of the way. WE WALKED THIS TOGETHER ❤️

My walks mission was simply to be a stranger for anyone struggling (or otherwise) to talk to. It’s much easier to talk to a stranger than it is those you know and love, so never underestimate the power you have to help others. YOU ARE NOT ALONE ❤️

Much love,

DAY 400 (about a week ago): The Tasmanian Leg 👣 The only words I want to share is, "WAIT ONE MORE MINUTE, TAKE ONE MORE STEP" ❤️

My connection to this message is the power of being where you are and focusing on the moment you’re in and the step you are taking. It examines the importance of the simplicity and slowness of life and our need to cultivate this within our journeys.

Be proud of every minute you’ve waited and every step you have taken. Remember you can only take the step in front of you.

Lastly, afford yourself compassion.

I left from Hobart, walking anticlockwise. I have wandered off piste for a lot of the east coast (as I’m back to a rucksack) and am currently in Devonport (via Launceston) before heading to Burnie and beyond.

Much love
Alex

DAY 370 (9 days ago): 15,000kms walked as I wander into a new state, Victoria. I visited Port Fairy and I’m leading myself down back roads into Geelong (tomorrow) and Melbourne (shortly after).

Above all the anecdotes I could share, my one assertion to all those struggling with their mental health is to WAIT ONE MORE MINUTE AND TAKE ONE MORE STEP. Why do I repeat this you may wonder…well quite frankly time and time again I see it’s unbelievable power.

There will be ample time to further explore this dialogue, however for now let this simple mantra prevail.

WAIT ONE MORE MINUTE AND TAKE ONE MORE STEP.

Much love
Alex

DAY 345 (8 days ago): A peek into some scenes after crossing into the 5th state/territory of Australia. 13500km into my walk around Australia for mens mental health and su***de awareness. You can see on the second last slide my walk to date 🚶‍♂️ I’ve had 8 days in Adelaide smelling the roses with family, surrounded by love and connection ❤️ Needed after an unbroken 1800km across the Great Australian Bite (with only 2 showers in that time period 😂)

I’ve spoken with and met amazing people along this leg of the walk, who all share a deep respect for encouraging anyone who may be struggling, to communicate ❤️

My important message of waiting one more minute and taking one more step was embraced by Max and the team at who so kindly donated me a pair of shoes for my next leg over to Geelong (via Mount Gambier) to jump onto the Ferry across to Tasmania. They were so supportive and willing to help me, in recognition of mental health ❤️ Just like I’ve been shown around my whole entire walk thus far.

My posts are few and far between for my own mental well-being and advocacy for slow and simple living 🧘‍♂️ I prioritise real world meaningful connections.

DAY 319 (13 days ago): After roughly 6000km and 4.5 months I have finished walking the perimeter of Western Australia and have entered South Australia.

I have met wonderful people all the way around this fantastically huge state. I have a plethora of stories, have shared wonderful experiences and have seen a lot. Testament to the fact that you are not alone. This journey has the kindness and support from strangers at every turn which is a reminder to be a stranger for someone whenever you can ❤️

One thing however remains a constant, above everything else, and that is “wait one more minute and take one more step”

These colour pictures were taken as I was coming out of the remote north of Western Australia and really encapsulate the nature of my walk. Seeking shade under small shrubs and trees and escaping flies in the solitude of the desert. They were taken by who was part of the film crew for Lachie, a bloke from Port Macquarie record riding around Australia.

The black and white pictures were taken as I was leaving Kununurra, the beginning of some vast stretches of nothing, where I would walk for days and days between towns. These pictures were taken by who was travelling around Australia in his Troopy with his girlfriend and pup!

I have a lot of footage and pictures that I’ll eventually share somewhere but I tend to spent my minimal downtime doing more important things. I struggle jumping online when I’m out here because, well I’ll leave my reservations about it to myself for the time being ❤️

Much love.

DAY 244: The plethora of wildflowers. Many more were seen, but these were just some of my favourites. All of these were shot within a 10km stretch of highway as I was heading south from the Overlander Roadhouse towards Geraldton. Literally on the highway…how beautiful is that!! I cannot tell you what any of these are called but keep an eye on the comment section and beautiful .mareeee will sure be able to name all of them for us 😊🌺 Forget the botanical gardens, go for a stroll around Australia and you’ll be sure to stumble across a stunning mosaic of wildflowers!
