Just before I turned 30, I had this moment of internal crisis. Comparison and expectation that didn’t even belong to me, stole my thoughts and I panicked that I hadn’t done enough, hadn’t achieved enough, hadn’t ticked enough boxes for my 30 years on this earth.

But last night it hit me.. 12 year old Maddy would look at what I was doing with my life now and think that she has absolutely made it!
All 12 year old Maddy dreamed of was having horses, training horses and drawing horses. Horses and drawing consumed her childhood.

In this chapter of my life, I realise I am living her dream. My working hours are divided between training horses, and drawing pictures of them.

Manifestation is in the works from the time we arrive on this earth, and the constant evolutions of life often see us forgetting what was in ours hearts all along.
We rarely stop to reflect.
“Don’t forget the joy” is a simple phrase I recently heard, and it really struck a chord. How do we so easily forget this..

Thinking of where my path has lead so far, I am so proud and so grateful! 12 year old Maddy would think I have the coolest life ever. And for the most, I really do. Even if it doesn’t make sense to anyone else.

I’m proud to say that I’m 30. It hasn’t been the easiest road to travel at times.
But what I’m most proud to reflect on is that I am honouring the dreams of a little girl who matters most 🤍
We made it!

I had the most fascinating encounter with Joey and Flash last week.

What started as me climbing the fence to give everyone a quick scratch, turned into an unintentional session I got to observe between the two boys. The beauty of going in purely to spend time with them and having no expectations..

What you can see in this video is a small part of the half an hour, where Joey was so clearly communicating with Flash. It started with Joey gently nudging flash closer and closer to me as if to say “hey, she’s not so bad! Go and see!” And Joey continually checking in with me as if to reassure me that he’s letting Flash know that he’s safe here with me, and with the herd.

It progressed into Joey holding this incredible space around Flash’s third eye, and touching Flash’s mouth trying to encourage a release. All the while, Joey was releasing for him.

I stood a couple of metres back, just to observe and allow joey to do what he needed to.

And slowly but surely, I watched Flash’s body unravel a bit. At first he wouldn’t rest a leg, but his joints kept bucking and his head kept bobbing. It was like I was watching his nervous system trying to ground into “I’m safe”, and then the coping patterns he’s developed for himself over the years would sn**ch him right back out. I was watching the angel and the devil on Flash’s shoulder pulling him back and forth from grounded to flight mode.

Joey just facilitated gently through it all.

It was captivating to watch. And as I left them to their moment, I kept checking in out of the kitchen window to see them still at it half an hour after I’d walked away.

Gradually Flash has settled more over the week. Joey is inviting him to play, but he’s still not sure how to let that part of himself out just yet. He’s trying.
But he can now be walked up to and caught in the big paddock.

I intend to leave him to let down with the herd a bit more, before asking for him to participate mentally in any training. I think there is still so much more to unravel in him yet, and a herd of grounded horses is the best place for him to start.

With the current drought expanding across Victoria, and a complete non existence of grass and forage for our horses, the hay supply has been in high demand and getting harder and more expensive to attain.

As many a horse person can attest to, we would rather see our horses well fed before ourselves most of the time. But if you were like me, and cried when you watched your horses use a fresh round bale to redecorate their paddock with in a matter of seconds, and use it as a bed and a toilet then this net is an investment you need to make!
