Sometimes life comes at us like a raging lunatic!!!
We can’t always modify our circumstances, but we can absolutely nourish and support our body through the chaos.

Stress plays a large role in chronic disease onset, exacerbation of health conditions, and symptom picture. Think high blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome, bloating, thyroid conditions, iron deficiency, fatigue, brain fog, autoimmunity, inflammation, diabetes, perimenopause, osteoporosis.

It's crucial to manage stress levels externally and internally.

Targeted nutritional therapies will provide the tools required for the body to internally cope and adapt with the external factors. The form, dosing, and timing are important considerations when using nutrients to support your health - this should always be a personalised prescription.

Lifestyle practises are an external support for the internal impact stress exerts on our cellular function, hormone balance, digestive health, and metabolic markers. Strategies should fit within your current situation, not add further burden or additional time constraints.

As a Clinical Nutritionist, I take a holistic and client-centred approach to restore balance, find calm, and insert a little joy.

Let's work together to support your body and see you thrive, even in the midst of mayhem!

You're keen to lose weight. You know you need to eat well. You know you need to move. But do you know you need to support your nervous system?

Stress management is a huge factor when it comes to weight management. If you're doing all the right things with food and exercise but aren't seeing a shift in body composition, have you considered your nervous system?

This includes light exposure, daily load, meal timing, the type of exercise you do, when you exercise, fuelling exercise, sleep quality, your thought life, sun exposure, and creating joy.

Remember, this is a journey. The path to healing your nervous system and initiating fat loss takes time.

It's like the old Pantene ad, it won't happen overnight but it will happen.

And I'm here to support you 🤗

Protein, protein, protein!
There's so much talk and pressure to consume protein, but at what cost? Should there be a balance?
Are we replacing plant foods with protein powders and protein waters and missing out on fibre and phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals and trace elements?

Squeezing in our monthly Food is Medicine before February is over (where the heck did that go?):
R is for Raspberries!

Alkalising, rich in vitamin C, red, juicy, and delicious!

Fresh and in season, raspberries are sweet and bursting with goodness.

As a pre-biotic, your gut bugs love feasting on the insoluble fibre of raspberries and in return produce short chain fatty acids which nourish the cells of your large intestine.

In addition to fibre, the phenolic compounds (anthocyanins and ellagitannins) have anti-cancer and neuro-protective benefits due to their antioxidant activity.

A back up bag of frozen raspberries in the freezer makes these yummy lolly-like berries readily available when you need them! Throw them into a breakfast smoothie, or enjoy them dotted through your freshly baked muffins or banana bread.
Or why not jazz up your apple crumble with some rich, juicy, ruby-red jewels!?

I just love the 'POP' (in colour and flavour) of fresh raspberries added to my chia pudding or soaked oats.

Will you add them to yours?

Too much of a good thing can be toxic!

We've heard the reports on high doses of B6 for extended periods of time becoming problematic for a few folks lately.

😬 What about zinc? Your gut shuts the doors if we overdo the zinc!
😬 Or vitamin D? Your kidneys can't cope with huge quantities long term - and are you a candidate for calcium concerns? (Vitamin D increases calcium absorption, which could land in your arteries!)
😬 Or iron? Are you re-testing to check *if* you're absorbing, and are you preparing for this test properly?
😬 Or iodine? Can your thyroid cope with extra iodine, and are you getting enough of the other key nutrients required for thyroid function and protection?
😬 Or selenium? Is your dose barely touching the sides, or blowing you out way above safe levels?
😬 Or any of the herbs included in over the counter or online subscription products?

It's so important to realise that nutrients (and herbs) are potent!!
These are therapies that can have an enormous impact on cellular function.

So before you grab the next well-marketed 'happy' helper, or the supermarket special with an appealing tagline, it's probably worth seeking qualified advice.

As a Clinical Nutritionist, when I assess your health requirements I factor in your dietary intake, your age, your life-stage, your lifestyle (and the pressure your nervous system may be under), your digestive health (and absorption capacity), and I'll review your pathology (or send you for an updated screening test) to determine what support you may need, the best form of nutrient, and an appropriate dose.
👉 And we will track your progress to guide continuation and dosing.

Reach out to optimise your nutritional status - safely.

Helloooooo beautiful people!

We're cracking on into 2026, with half of February already behind us! I thought it might be a good time re-introduce myself.

I work from a holistic, root-cause framework, integrating clinical nutrition, functional assessment, and lifestyle medicine to address underlying drivers of symptoms.

I create individualised treatment plans that support gastrointestinal function, hormonal and metabolic balance, and overall physiological resilience. My clinical approach emphasises sustainable, targeted interventions to support long-term health outcomes.

Stomach pain shouldn't be ignored!

If you’re dealing with regular stomach pain I want you to know something:
You’re not being dramatic, you’re not overreacting, and you definitely don’t have to just push through and get on with it.
Your body is trying to tell you something and you deserve to understand what that is.

Stomach pain can be caused by many factors.

And when it’s happening often, it doesn’t just affect your stomach, it affects many aspects of your life.

We need to understand the root of what’s causing your discomfort and build a plan to rebalance your gut with strategies that are realistic, supportive and tailored to you.

Working with me as a Clinical Nutritionist, we will incorporate nutritional therapies for:
Optimal nutrition.
Better digestion.
Nervous system support.
Microbiome balance.

Plus lifestyle shifts to nurture your gut health.

If you’re ready to get answers (and relief), I’m here to help.
You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Whoopsies!!
A little boo boo - my bad!!

Let's talk about fuelling exercise.

The right food at the right time.

Our body needs nourishment.
Fuelling exercise is super important for balanced blood glucose, cortisol regulation, and reduced insulin levels.

Working out on an empty stomach is not ideal.

And I realised my error this morning and had to cut my exercise short, to not put my body through the additional stress and experience a glucose crash.

Looking for guidance?
Reach out!

I'd love to support you.

Food is Medicine! And for this month's A-Z of Medicinal Food, we're at Q for Quinoa!

On your quest for adding quality nutrients to your daily diet, quinoa is the quintessential accompaniment to your meals.

Containing higher amounts of protein, fibre, and folate than rice - this pseudo-grain is the perfect replacement when you want to feel fuller for longer without the glucose spike.

Adequate daily protein intake preserves muscle mass, facilitates cellular turnover, and provides the building blocks for the repair and replacement of tissues - did you know the entirety of your digestive tract is replaced every 4-5 days?!

Adequate daily fibre feeds your beneficial gut bugs and supports healthy cholesterol levels.

Folate is important for red blood cell production and DNA synthesis and repair.

Magnesium and iron are minerals required in several cellular processes, supporting thyroid health, energy levels, and nervous system response.

Quinoa boasts these beautiful benefits and makes for a brilliant plant-based protein boost to meals and snacks.

Are you keen for quinoa?
FYI it's pronounced keen-wah, not kwin-oh-ah! 😉
Tell me if you've been saying it wrong for years (or avoided saying it altogether to avoid embarrassment!)

She'll be right, mate!
That classic old Aussie saying that whisks things under the rug when things get tough.
But perhaps it's worth reflecting deeply on just how fortunate we are to have access and choice. Read on 👇

This Australia Day, let's reflect on something we’re incredibly fortunate to have access to — choice in our healthcare 🇦🇺🌿

Here in Australia, we have the opportunity to seek holistic, client-centred care from qualified and accredited professionals (like me! A Clinical Nutritionist), who takes the time to listen, understand, and treat the whole person — not just the symptoms.

It’s empowering to live in a place where I can encourage you to take an active role in your health.

Where education, evidence-informed practice, and personalised care allow you to ask better questions, explore root causes, and make informed decisions that support your long-term wellbeing.

Providing holistic healthcare isn’t about replacing one system with another — it’s about working collaboratively with other health professionals, honouring the uniqueness of each individual, empowering folks to have agency and gain clarity when it comes to making decisions about health, and recognising that "health" is physical, mental, emotional, and social.

Access to this kind of care reminds us that health isn’t something that simply happens to us — it’s something we can actively nurture, protect, and strengthen over time with the right guidance and support. That sense of autonomy is a privilege worth acknowledging and celebrating.

Today feels like a good day to celebrate that freedom — the freedom to choose care that aligns with our values, supports our goals, and helps us take ownership of our health journey.

Wishing you a safe, reflective, and meaningful Australia Day.
