We have some wet weather approaching. Please stay safe everyone.

Here at Dovida Brisbane North and Caboolture we have Caregivers available to assist you prepare your homes ( collecting and positioning sandbags; tying things down; preparing the yard; ; stocking up with a trip to the shops; transport you to loved ones home if you'd feel safer there; or even accompanying you to the movies to take your mind off things.

We're here for you.

UPDATE: The Bureau of Meteorology has advised that the threat of heavy rainfall has passed. Our sandbag stations will stay open until Monday as a great chance to stock up and get prepared for severe weather season.

☔ With heavy rain forecast over the next few days, now is a good time to pick up sandbags if you live in a flood‑prone area.

Sandbags can help slow water from entering your home and protect drains from storm surges. While they won’t stop floodwaters entirely, correctly filled and placed bags can reduce the amount of water that reaches your property. 🏠

The State Emergency Service (SES) may be able to assist residents who are physically unable to collect sandbags due to age, illness, or other limitations. Call 132 500 if you need support. 📞

If you’re visiting a Council sandbag station, please bring your own shovel as you will need to fill your own bags.

Take only what you need, lend a hand to your neighbours, and stay calm - we'll bring new supply when available so everyone can get what they need. 🏠⛈️

At Dovida we love our Silver Socials.

We've heard your feedback and are trialling different locations this year. Let us know where you'd like us to organise one.

What are Silver Socials? These are group get togethers for our Dovida clients with their Caregivers in social settings. Some are meals shared, some have entertainment, some even have dancing. For smaller more intimate get togethers we will be restarting our Dovida Clubs too.

These are our Silver Socials for January.

Aspley Hornets - Wed 14th Jan 11am to 1pm (live entertainment from 10:30 to1:30pm with ex-Wickety Wack Rob Roselund) with coffee and cake specials, 10% discount for seniors and lunch specials.

Tues 20th Jan 12:30 to 2:30 Club Pine Rivers with entertainer Scott Sullivan.

Thurs 29th Jan Bribie RSL 11:30 to 1:30pm.

We have our Silver Socials kicking off Wednesday January 14th. Silver Socials are our group activities where clients are accompanied by our Dovida Caregivers, meet somewhere central, socialise, connect and at times dance!

** Tuesday 20th January 12:30 to 2:30 (or stay as long as you like- Club Pine Rivers with Scott Sullivan entertainer on from 1 to 5).

Meet Valmai - our January calendar star! 🌟​

At 86, Valmai has been bringing her community together for 70 years as a CWA member, hosting morning teas, packing care bags for domestic violence survivors, and baking up a storm.​

Despite gradually losing her central vision over 30 years, Valmai still cooks from memory and feel (with a little help from her Dovida carers Judy and Donna).​

Her famous Ginger Spice Slice opens our 2026 calendar.
