Greetings from Kuala Lumpur! 🇲🇾✨

Some of our Westside Nephrologists made the trip to Malaysia this week for the 11th APCM-ISPD Conference on Peritoneal Dialysis – such a great chance to catch up with colleagues, share ideas, and learn more about how we can keep improving care for our patients.

We’re excited to bring back fresh ideas and energy to our work at home 💙

As we say farewell to Dr Adam Flavell, we would like to welcome and introduce Dr Huan Dang to our Nephrology team at Westside Physicians!

Dr Huan Dang completed his medical degree at Monash University in 2014 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Nephrology) in 2022.

He currently holds public hospital appointments at Northern Health, Monash Health, and Peninsula Health. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in medical education through Monash University and is currently pursuing a PhD with a research focus on autoimmune kidney diseases.

We would like to thank Dr Adam Flavell for his dedication and exceptional care of patients at Westside Physicians over the years. Adam has been a valued and integral member of our Nephrology team since the early days of our group.

As he now transitions to a full-time role at Western Health and closes his private practice, we wish Adam all the very best in this next chapter of his career. His professionalism and commitment to excellence will be greatly missed.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr Cindy Bach, Nephrologist, to our growing team of specialists!

With her expertise and dedication to patient care, Cindy will be a valuable addition, helping us provide the highest standard of care to our community.

Dr Cindy Bach graduated with Honours from Monash University in 2015 and completed her specialist nephrology training at Austin Health and Bendigo Health. She is currently undertaking a glomerulonephritis fellowship with the Nephrology Department at the Austin.

Cindy welcomes referrals in all aspects of nephrology including chronic kidney disease, refractory hypertension, glomerulonephritis and those who require dialysis. She speaks English and Vietnamese.

And just like that.... we welcome our 10th Nephrologist to the team! We are very pleased that Dr Rory Wallace, Consultant Nephrologist will be joining us in our St Albans Clinic shortly.

Rory is a general nephrologist who also holds appointments at St Vincent’s Public Hospital, Western Health and Central Gippsland Health.

Rory completed his medical degree with the University of Melbourne in 2016, obtained Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2023 and undertook a fellowship in rare kidney disease with a focus on tuberous sclerosis at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in 2024.

We are delighted to welcome Dr Ru Hui New, Consultant Endocrinologist and General Medicine Physician to the team!

Dr New is dual-trained in Endocrinology and General & Acute Care Medicine. She completed her medical degree in University of Adelaide in 2010 and underwent physician training in several major cities across Australia including Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Gold Coast and Townsville before settling in Victoria.

Ru also holds a postgraduate degree in Master of Medicine specializing in Metabolic Health and is a member of Endocrine Society, Australian Diabetes Society, Australian and New Zealand Bone Mineral Society as well as Internal Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand.

She is a strong believer of patient-centred care and works closely with her patients to develop personalised management plans for ongoing therapy. Her passion lies in supporting her patients throughout their journey in weight management, type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, osteoporosis, hypogonadism, as well as thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pituitary disorders.

In addition to English, Dr New also speaks Malay, Mandarin and Hokkien. Dr New is now accepting referrals for new patients.

We would like to warmly welcome and introduce Dr Filipe Gonsalves, Consultant Haematologist to our team of physicians.

Dr Filipe Gonsalves is a dedicated and compassionate Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist. After finishing his medical degree with honors, he went on to complete his basic physician training at St Vincent’s Melbourne. He then pursued further specialisation in clinical haematology, and trained at The Alfred, Monash, and St Vincent’s.

Filipe went on to complete his laboratory training at the PeterMacallum Cancer Center before joining Western Health as a senior clinical registrar. He holds public appointments as a Consultant Haematologist at Western Health and Monash Health, and is proud to offer his services to his local community in the western suburbs.

We are pleased to announce that Westside Renal Services has now transitioned to Westside Physicians!

In order to better reflect our collaborative, multidisciplinary group of Specialist Physicians and the broad range of services we now provide, we felt it was time to make this change.

Dr Jamie Cheong would like to inform all our valued patients and referrers that she is now consulting at both our Maribyrnong and St Albans locations!

She will also no longer be consulting at her previous location at Sunshine Private Consulting Suites. All patients who were previously attending Sunshine Private will be contacted of the location change but are welcome to contact our rooms directly on (03) 8528 6700 or email info@qcspecialists.com.au to arrange a follow up appointment.
