Today, Cura Day Hospitals Group recognises World Hand Hygiene Day, reaffirming our shared commitment to patient safety through simple and effective hand hygiene practices.

This commitment is reinforced through our ongoing Rub In, Rub Out (RIRO) initiative, reminding our teams that clean hands help save lives by preventing the spread of infection through correct hand hygiene.

Consistently following best practice hand hygiene is one of the most effective frontline measures to protect our patients, our colleagues and ourselves from infection.

Building strong habits also means supporting one another by speaking up, welcoming reminders and working together to uphold a culture of safety and accountability.

This Falls Awareness Month, we’re raising awareness about falls prevention and supporting those at risk.

After surgery or a procedure, falls can happen more easily due to factors like:
🔹 Poor balance & low blood pressure
🔹 Medications that cause dizziness
🔹 Inactivity during recovery

It’s important to stay safe both in hospital and at home. Simple fall prevention tips, like staying active and creating a safe environment, can help reduce falls and prevent injuries.

The team at Sunshine Coast Day Surgery is thrilled to have our new Melag steriliser installed this week as part of our broader refurbishment aligned with AS 5369. We’re transitioning from a single unit to two Melag sterilisers, with the first now installed and the second planned for later in the year.

The new system brings improved workflow, built‑in water filtration, and mobile flexibility to support our growing demand.
