Mental Health Week is coming up and the theme for 2025
is “Connect for mental health”.

It emphasizes the proactive measures we can adopt to nurture and support positive mental health and wellbeing for ourselves and our communities. Queensland Mental Health Week provides an opportunity for all Queenslanders to consider and connect with the people and communities that they rely on to help them be mentally healthy, through a range of events and activities.

Connect for mental health focuses on four areas:

Connect with self: Take care of yourself, do something you enjoy, make healthy choices, and seek help when needed.
Connect with community: Create supportive and inclusive environments, look after one another, and connect with culture. Show kindness and initiate connection with those who are struggling.
Connect with others: Foster relationships with loved ones, friends, family, and mob. Spend time with others and make meaningful connections.
Connect with nature: Take a break from technology, spend time outdoors, embrace mindfulness, and take care of the world around you

“United States President Donald Trump has urged pregnant women to avoid paracetamol except in cases of extremely high fever, because of a possible link to autism.

Paracetamol – known as acetaminophen or by the brand name Tylenol in the US – is commonly used to relieve pain, such as back pain and headaches, and to reduce fever during pregnancy.

Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration today re-affirmed existing medical guidelines that it’s safe for pregnant women to take paracetamol at any stage of pregnancy.”

It’s safe for pregnant women to take paracetamol at any stage of pregnancy. Here’s what the research says about the risk of autism.

This week is Dementia Action Week with the theme "Nobody Can Do It Alone". This national initiative, led by Dementia Australia, aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote the idea that people living with dementia, their families, and carers need a strong support network.

Dementia doesn’t just impact the person living with the condition and their immediate carers; it also impacts their friends, family and wider social network.

People living with dementia tell us that friends and family often drop away, not knowing how to interact with them once they have a diagnosis.

This leads to social isolation and loneliness and can further drive stigma and discrimination. With an estimated 433,300 Australians living with dementia and 1.7 million people involved in their care, chances are you know someone who is impacted by dementia.

This Dementia Action Week we challenge everyone in the community to reach out and reconnect to someone impacted by dementia because nobody can do it alone.

This week is National Diabetes Week and this year we're focusing on prevention, because it matters at every stage of the journey.

Whether it’s preventing type 2 diabetes or preventing complications for people living with all types of diabetes, awareness and action make a difference.

Diabetes is not ‘one-size-fits-all’ and each person’s journey is unique. Unfortunately, there’s still a lot of confusion and misinformation about diabetes. This misunderstanding can make life harder for people living with all types of diabetes.

However, with better understanding and support, we can create a healthier future – for everyone.

Have a chat to your GP or make an appointment on 07 54439455. Alternatively visit the website below for further information.
