Chair Yoga & Mindfulness is a total mind-body workout that combines strengthening and stretching poses with deep breathing and stillness. You will move every part of your body slowly, with purpose, and with breath – from the top of your head to the tips of your fingers and toes – all from the comfort and security of a chair. The session ends with guided relaxation. Shell’s clients often say they hadn’t realised how tight some parts of their body were before experiencing total body relaxation.
Chair Yoga is for anyone who finds it difficult to get up and down from the floor for any reason. Perhaps you think you’re too old, too big, too inflexible, recovering from an injury, have different physical or mental abilities, or struggle to breathe – this class is for you.
During the sessions, you are in charge of your body. We aim to find that “Goldilocks” spot – not too little (you may be holding back) and not too much (you should not feel new pain). Shell encourages you not to compare yourself to others – just do the best you can on the day, which may vary from session to session.
