I need to speak up
I see a huge amount of parents searching for health advice online
At one level- I get it.
But knowing what I know, and seeing the sort of advice people are being given, it’s so often so bad that harm is being done and huge amounts of money being wasted.

Let’s be honest- social media is a vast, unfiltered sea of opinions, algorithms, and anecdotal advice. While it might feel like you’re learning, it often leaves you with incomplete or conflicting information, requiring hours to sift through unreliable content.

So, I have my course. And yes you can call me biased because it costs money, but for the few hours of education you get, for what you pay, you’re going to be well ahead of the curve. And for those that sign up between now and December 31, you’ll get a dedicated 30 minutes discussion with me for free- this alone is worth nearly half the price of the course.

By enrolling in my course, you’ll get:
1. Expert Guidance: As a recognized specialist in ENT care, I offer insights and evidence-based strategies you won’t find scrolling through social media.
2. Curated Content: Every lesson is tailored, eliminating the guesswork and ensuring you focus on the most valuable, actionable knowledge.
3. Time Efficiency: Instead of wasting hours searching for answers, you’ll gain comprehensive understanding in a structured and accessible way.
4. Real-World Application: My course provides tools and techniques you can apply immediately, giving you measurable results.

Social media might entertain or inform, but my course empowers you with clarity, confidence, and expertise.

Due to a huge number of online requests from parents about their child that snores or mouth breathes I have written my third book. It is called Sleep disordered breathing: A parent’s guide

I believe it will empower parents to seek the help their children need. I hope it may be a useful resource for health care professionals too, to explain to parents why SDB is an issue, why we have abandoned the idea of “letting them outgrow it”, and why they need their children ideally seen and treatment commenced within 6 months of symptoms becoming evident.

Sleep disordered breathing is one of, if not the, most common chronic health conditions in childhood. Yet most parents have nevere heard of it, and many hea,th practitioners do not know about it either. This is a tragedy as sleep disordered breathing has a major impact on the health of children. ...

One of the reasons that there is such a disagreement about tongue ties is that we do not have a reliable method to make a functional diagnosis

The ankyloglossia diagnosis in newborns varied depending on the assessment instrument used.

Tongue toes and jaw growth
Despite every bit of evidence I have seen showing tongue ties are related to an elongated lower jaw, there is still a persistent belief it causes a short jaw. This just does not seem to be the case and here is yet another paper showing exactly what the other research has shown. The other interesting finding was the rate of malocclusions was twice that of those with a tongue toe versus those without. This is a novel finding worthy of further research too.

This work supports the hypothesis that relates class III malocclusion with a short lingual frenulum.

A recent publication on tongue tie and breastfeeding

Current study analyses issues with breastfeeding. Dental practitioners and pediatricians should be familiar with this topic, as early and timely minimal invasive surgical intervention has a significant impact for better comfort of the mothers and continuation of breastfeeding.

Interesting to see that having a tongue tie does not impact on the measured tongue strength or pressure generated by the tongue

Maximum tongue strength, mean swallow pressures, and tongue endurance were measured in 324 children ages 6–12 years. The purpose of this study was to measure saliva swallow pressures in absolute terms (i.e., kilopascals) and as a percentage of maximum tongue strength to determine functional r...

A brief look at what can go wrong with tongue tie release

Reporting of complications after frenotomy is lacking. Risks to neonates may be different than risks to older children and adults. Practitioners across different specialties should be monitoring and studying this more rigorously to better guide patients and families on the risks and benefits of this...
