Now & Next is an innovative, award-winning program for parents, family members, and carers of children with concerns about their child’s development.

N&N helps you develop skills to achieve positive outcomes for your child, your family & yourself Life can be overwhelming for parents or carers if their children don’t develop or behave in the same way as other children. Parents often wonder if there is something more they could be doing to help. Now & Next™ is an 8-session interactive program that can help you to make a positive difference for yo

ur child. We know that parents and carers make the biggest difference in their child’s life. Not by doing more, but by achieving more with less effort. Your valuable time will be well spent because we measure the outcomes and it works.

⭐️ Now & Next Term 3 groups are free for families without NDIS funding in Australia ⭐️ Parenting a child with a disability or developmental delay can feel overwhelming, and at times, isolating. Hearing words like these from a Now & Next parent reminds us what this program is really about.

You are not alone. In Now & Next, you will join a supportive community of parents who understand. Together, we will share experiences, discover your child's strengths and explore new possibilities for your whole family.

Eight weekly sessions, 2 hours each. There are three groups.

Now & Next School is a group program that supports families of children with disability or developmental delay as they begin or continue their school journey.

You will connect with other parents and learn practical tools to:
• Discover and build on your child’s strengths
• Set or review your child’s learning plans with educators for better outcomes and wellbeing
• Coach your child to make meaningful choices
• Strengthen relationships with your child’s teachers and support team

When: Monday 7 July–Thursday 17 July
Cost: NDIS-funded families: $ 616 ($77/hour for 4 x 2-hour sessions). The course cost is claimable through NDIS funding under Capacity-building Supports.

Something we encourage in Now & Next is looking after yourself: When you thrive, your family thrives. So, what do we do? We asked parents and they told us:

• Connect with others (catch up with friends for a meal or a movie)
• Make time for movement (go for a walk or do yoga)
• Spend time in nature (visit the local park or beach)
• Set aside some personal time for yourself (read a book, get a haircut)

Wow, it’s been 10 years since we first piloted Now & Next in 2015! It began as a small idea, co-designed by families for families, at a time when there weren’t many parent-peer-led programs for families of young children with developmental delay or disability.

Since then, over 5,000 families and professionals in eight countries have taken part in the program. 136 parents have completed Family Leadership training, and 67 parents have become peer facilitators. We’ve also recently welcomed siblings and young people into facilitator roles, a beautiful way to plant seeds for the future.

What makes Now & Next so special? It’s always been driven by families and created space for family leadership to grow. It has shown what’s possible when we move from delivering services to working with families and supporting them to lead, using their own strengths, insights and lived experience.

Now & Next is an example of what foundational supports look like: timely, practical, and grounded in lived experience.

Our sincere thanks to all the families and carers who built Now & Next and the Plumtree team for working alongside them to reach this milestone. You’ve made this program what it is.

We're super excited about our upcoming Now & Next School program for parents of primary school-aged children with disability or developmental delay. Children with disability may find it challenging to have their opinions heard for planning and support. Over four sessions, learn about coaching your child on independence and enhancing collaboration with educators for an effective Individual Education Plan based on your child's strengths.

Participants receive reports tailored to their child and parenting style. These reports are used for a resource to take to your child’s school meetings. It ensures that their strengths and wellbeing are embedded in planning for achievable, meaningful and positive outcomes.
