Now & Next Program Now & Next is an innovative, award-winning program for parents, family members, and carers of children with concerns about their child’s development.

N&N helps you develop skills to achieve positive outcomes for your child, your family & yourself Life can be overwhelming for parents or carers if their children don’t develop or behave in the same way as other children. Parents often wonder if there is something more they could be doing to help. Now & Next™ is an 8-session interactive program that can help you to make a positive difference for your child. We know that parents and carers make the biggest difference in their child’s life. Not by doing more, but by achieving more with less effort. Your valuable time will be well spent because we measure the outcomes and it works.

-94% of parents said: ‘Our child is learning new skills’
-95% of parents said: ‘Our child has positive family relationships’
-91% of parents said: ‘Our child is making choices and communicating’

Setting relevant, achievable goals is a big part of the Now & Next program. Our resources help you identify what's important for your child and family. Then you learn how to break goals down into smaller steps and make them happen!

If you are thinking about your child’s development, Now & Next brings parents together to focus on what matters most for their child to thrive 🙌. Our online program is run by trained parent peer workers who are raising a child with developmental differences and bring their insights. Together, we will explore and plan goals and strategies for the future in a respectful, understanding space.

✨ Now & Next is free for all families in Australia as part of a research collaboration between University of New South Wales, University of Melbourne, Monash University and Plumtree.

✨ Something we explore in Now & Next is how caring for your own wellbeing also supports your child and family to thrive. When parents have moments to recharge, children benefit.

Activities that parents tell us make a difference include:
• Catching up with friends for a meal or a movie
• Going for a walk or doing yoga
• Spending time in nature at the local park or a beach
• Enjoying a little time that’s just for them, like reading a book or getting a haircut

In Now & Next, we explore self-care and wellbeing in sessions 4-6. Stronger families lead to better outcomes for children ❤️

It’s not always obvious how much learning happens through outdoor play, but a trip to the playground offers so many opportunities for children’s development.

Outdoor play is one of the topics we explore in Now & Next. Activities like climbing and exploring can support motor skills, problem‑solving skills and confidence. Playing with other children helps develop early social skills. Following your child’s lead during play helps them learn in ways that feel natural and joyful 🙌🏼
