What is Kinesiology?
The long answer: Kinesiology is a mind and body modality, combines western techniques with eastern philosophy, and using the practice of muscle monitoring to identify stressors which block the body’s innate ability to heal. Are you consistently stressed or anxious? Do you experience chronic pain? Kinesiology helps you to learn the language of your body, so that you can decode what your symptoms are telling you. This ability to tap into your inner wisdom brings a feeling of buoyancy, clarity and calm. Muscle monitoring is a technique that utilises the body’s biofeedback system which sends messages between our brain and muscles via the central nervous system. This specialised technique allows the kinesiologist to access information about a person’s emotional, physical and mental wellbeing, and identify the underlying cause of a condition or issue. The human body is designed to be a self healing, whole, and regenerative organism. The symptoms we experience don't just exist in isolation, i.e. we don't just get headaches for no reason. It is with subconscious stress patterns that the systems of the body are disrupted and symptoms arise. Chronic pain, reactive emotions, learning difficulties, sleep issues and digestive problems are examples of the many symptoms resulting from unresolved, subconscious stress. These symptoms are simply our body’s way of communicating to us that something needs to shift. I help you understand what it is. Kinesiology can bring our awareness to our subconscious stress patterns and release them via treatment of the nervous system, acupressure, neuro-lymphatic reflexes and nutritional support. With this awareness we feel empowered, and can relate to ourselves (and others) more easily. Rather than looking at emotional and physical health in isolation, kinesiology addresses the mind and body as a whole and is highly effective in dissolving stress. I work a lot with anxiety, and all of its manifestations. In a session I will be helping you to identify the subconscious beliefs that you may be carrying that are driving your anxiety, while at the same time, perform the necessary body work to help you release that pattern. What issues can Inner Wisdom Kinesiology help? Stress and anxiety Fatigue and low energy Immunity Sleep Digestion Learning difficulties Chronic pain Limiting beliefs Connection to self and others
I work specifically with women’s emotional health. What do Inner Wisdom Kinesiology sessions involve? Firstly, I ensure that my clients feel safe and comfortable in my welcoming clinic room. I provide a judgement free space and always meet my clients where they’re at. We talk about your world. It feels a little bit like counselling, but it’s client-centred You’ll feel very calm and at home. We do a thorough intake of your physical symptoms, and I feel your pulse and check your tongue. Through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine, your set of symptoms help me identify which organs are in a state of disharmony. In TCM each symptom and each part of the body has its own unique psychology, so understanding this overall pattern of disharmony will shed light on the subconscious emotional charge behind your symptoms. In each session we work on a goal or issue, and I provide you tools to help you achieve the changes you would like to make in your life, while identifying and resolving what may be preventing those changes. The sessions involve muscle monitoring to gain more insight into the subconscious aspects of the issue and what body systems need to be addressed. In the last half hour of the session we focus on body work. This part of the session is dedicated to relaxation and acupressure, that is, applying pressure to the points on your body that are relevant to the issue, in order to stimulate the body’s innate healing abilities. Acupressure stimulates the hypothalamus, pituitary and adrenal glands which release endogenous opioid neuropeptides. Stimulating these peptides is effective in forming new associations to stressful memories or activities. If relevant, you may be given some take home exercises or affirmations. We’ll also discuss how to support your body with nutrition and hydration so that your body is in optimum condition for the ensuing changes. The short answer: Kinesiology identifies the unresolved emotional stress creating chronic physical symptoms, using empowering, clarifying and soothing methods.
