Ever looked at your supplements and thought “How did I end up with all of these?”

Things get added over time - a cold or flu here and there, feeling tired, feeling stressed, busy and not eating well — and before you know it, you’ve got a cupboard full of supplements without a clear plan.

If your supplement list is growing, it’s usually important to pause and ask:
• What is each one for?
• Do I still need it?
• Am I doubling up with the supplements?

Supplements should be targeted, purposeful, and regularly reviewed - not something you just keep adding to indefinitely.

Sometimes simplifying your plan can actually improve how you feel.

If you’re not sure what you need (or don’t need), that’s exactly what a review is for.

It's natural to feel relieved when reflux improves on medication.

And that makes sense - symptoms settle, things feel better.

But what often happens next is that symptoms come back when medication is reduced or stopped.

Reflux isn’t usually just about acid. It’s often influenced by:
• how much you’re eating
• when you’re eating
• pressure on the stomach
• how well food is moving through

Medication can be really helpful to calm symptoms and allow healing.

But if the underlying drivers aren’t addressed, reflux often returns.

If this feels familiar — you’re not doing anything wrong.

It usually just means there’s more going on that needs to be looked at.

Most nutrition advice follows a usual routine.

6-8am Breakfast
12-2pm Lunch
6-8pm Dinner
= Regular meals

But many people don’t live like that.

Actors and performers
Chefs and hospitality workers
Barristers and lawyers
Doctors and nurses
Airline and airport workers
Transport and logistics
New parents
Many more

The result is often:

Fatigue
Digestive issues
Weight changes
Poor recovery

Long hours, irregular schedules and unpredictable breaks can make eating well feel like an unrealistic goal.

Often the problem isn’t discipline.

The strategy simply doesn’t fit the schedule.

When nutrition aligns with how your day actually runs, it becomes much easier to sustain.

CHEAP AND CHEERFUL. The humble orange has a lot to offer. It’s not only a source of vitamin c but it helps to maintain healthy blood vessels, gut microbiota, and contains anti inflammatory compounds.

Recommendation: just eat it, don’t juice it.

0:04 Hi, everybody. I'm jumping on today to talk about a couple of questions that keep popping up for people who are trying to lose weight.
0:12 Sometimes they're on weight loss medication, sometimes they're not. But the two questions that I keep hearing, are, how much should I eat?
0:19 Why am I not losing weight? So firstly, cutting down on how much you eat a week isn't necessarily going to lead to weight loss.
0:27 That's a pretty one-dimensional approach. Perhaps a better way of looking at it is how and when you're eating or what your eating pattern is.
0:35 Remember, our bodies run 24 hours a day and we're on a day-night cycle. So when you're on weight loss medication and you don't have those appetite cues, it's really important to have a regular eating pattern.
0:48 Second question is why am I not losing weight? Well, often there are other factors involved like digestion, metabolism, hormones, sleep, stress and body chemistry.
0:59 So weight loss is a multi-dimensional problem and when we look at the bigger picture. What you eat, when you eat, how you eat and how your body processes it, and we put those pieces together, for some people.
1:11 That's when weight loss starts to flow.

IS IT ONE OF THOSE DAYS? One of those Mondays that feels slow to start and even by lunchtime, the energy hasn't kicked in? Sometimes low iron can be part of the problem.

But you don't need to reach for the pub steak just yet.

Try some sardines in tomato sauce and added to veg, rice or noodles. Quick and practical, easy to store in your bag or desk draw.

They're not quite as iron-rich as a bowl of spaghetti bolognaise (still my favourite iron rich dinner), but sardines contain more iron than chicken and they're ready in minutes.

They also provide calcium, protein and omega 3 fats which are all good for bones.

More about bones - and my bad - back later 😞

Note: If your fatigue is ongoing, it's worth seeing your GP and checking iron properly.

Reflux can feel confusing - especially when you’re not sure where to start with food.

While certain foods can trigger symptoms, reflux is rarely caused by one single thing. Meal timing, digestion, stress, medications and overall eating patterns all play a role.

To help you get started, I’ve created a Reflux-Friendly Food Guide that outlines:
• foods to eat mostly
• foods to eat a little
• foods to avoid
• practical strategies to reduce symptoms

✨ February appointment bonus
Book an initial or review consultation by 31 January for a February appointment, and the guide will be emailed to you.

This guide is a starting point. A consultation allows us to look at why reflux may be occurring for you and create a personalised nutrition plan.

👉 Book here: https://nutritionpath.bookings.pracsuite.com/guest

Please write REFLUX when you book and we will email the guide to you. (Please allow 24 hours.)

You know that moment when a golden retriever flops onto its back in the grass and REFUSES to leave the park? When no amount of reasoning or pressure seems to work and you're already late getting home?

That’s your metabolism when you try to jump straight into a diet without preparing your body first.

It’s not being “naughty”, it’s just not ready to move yet.

Before weight loss can happen smoothly, your body may need some convincing.

This is where a pre-diet phase can be needed to:

- Settle inflammation
- Stabilise blood sugars
- Support digestion
- Improve energy and sleep
- Correct nutritional deficiencies
Etc

When your foundations are in place, your body is more likely to get up… shake off… and say, “Okay, I’m ready now.”

So if weight loss feels stubborn, slow or stuck, reach out to me so we can work together and give your body a little prep - not more pressure.
