Physiotherapist

Alan is a dedicated Physiotherapist with 7 years of clinical experience in private practice and multi-sports settings. He has serviced and supported athletes from sub-elite to elite levels across NPL (semi-professional) soccer, boxing and kickboxing.

He is passionate about helping people go from pain to performance. Having previously torn his ACL twice and returning to sport successfully, he can empathise with clients and understands the value of good guidance and treatment.

Remedial Massage Therapist

Simon brings a strong movement and athletic background to his clinical practice. With formal qualifications in Remedial Massage (Diploma) and Massage Therapy (Cert IV), he combines hands-on skill with a clear understanding of biomechanics, posture, and injury mechanisms.

Why harder massages aren’t always the best.

If you are clenching your jaw, your heart beat is going through the roof, you start sweating, you’re contracting against the massage therapist in the area they are massaging you or gripping the a sh*t out of the treatment table because of the pressure of the massage. Are you really getting an effective treatment?

While deep pressure can feel satisfying, it’s not for everyone! Here’s why harder massages might do more harm than good:

▪️Increased Pain: Too much pressure can lead to discomfort or pain.

▪️Muscle Damage: Excessive intensity may bruise or damage muscle fibers.

▪️Injury Risk: Aggressive techniques can strain joints and ligaments.

▪️Stress Response: A hard massage might trigger stress instead of relaxation.

▪️Sensitivity Concerns: Some areas are more sensitive, and hard pressure can be counterproductive!

Always listen to your body and communicate with your therapist for the best experience.

We believe a 8/10 pain scale of pressure is the ultimate sweet spot.

At the end of the day massage is meant to be releasing/relaxing your muscle. But if you are not relaxed yourself, how do you think the your muscle will relax.

As a runner, incorporating regular massage into your routine can be a game-changer! Here’s the scoop:

Frequency: Aim for a massage every 2-4 weeks, but listen to your body! After intense training or races, consider scheduling one sooner.

Benefits:
1. Injury Prevention: Helps to release muscle tension, reducing the risk of injuries.
2. Improved Recovery: Boosts circulation, aiding in faster recovery and reducing soreness.
