Pilates:
Pilates (first developed in the early 1900s by Joseph Pilates) is a whole body conditioning form of exercise which in particular builds core strength and stability, but also aids to improve flexibility, strength and endurance of all muscles in the body. Pilates is often considered an integral part of rehabilitation, on-going management and prevention of lumbar (low-back) pain/injuries, and is also an excellent form of combined aerobic and strength training. Dulwich Physiotherapy has Polestar Pilates trained instructors who run mat-based Pilates classes on site each week. We offer both beginner and intermediate/advanced level classes all of which are limited to 8 clients per class to ensure greater supervision to reinforce important principles of movement, assist with correct technique and modification of exercises to suit individual needs. A client must undergo a Pre-Pilates fitness screening conducted by a physiotherapist prior to commencing classes to ensure that they are undertaking an appropriate level class. Dulwich Physiotherapy also offers 1-1 Pilates sessions for clients new to Pilates, those who have specific requirements or those who do not feel comfortable attending a group class. Pilates Timetable:
Beginner Level:
Tuesday 12:00pm – 12:45pm
Thursday 11am – 11:45am

Intermediate - Advanced Level:
Tuesday 5:15pm – 6pm
Tuesday 6pm – 6:45pm
Saturday 8:30am - 9:15am

Cost:
$24.50 per class (rebate offered with private health companies). Hydrotherapy:
Hydrotherapy is the practice of undertaking exercise in water. Hydrotherapy has many benefits such as; decreasing pain due to warmth of the water, decreased loading through joints due to the buoyancy effect of water, assistance with balance training due to the interaction of the density of the water and human body, and aerobic and resistance training benefits due to the increased resistance of the water, compared with air, against the human body. Hydrotherapy is particularly beneficial for Osteoarthritis, rehabilitation from joint replacements or surgical repairs, recovery post traumatic injury (e.g. motor vehicle accident), and for general fitness purposes. Dulwich Physiotherapy currently runs one hydrotherapy session per week on Tuesdays at 1pm at the nearby located State Swim on The Parade at Norwood. Our physiotherapists devise and oversee clients completing individualised programs specific to their needs. Class size is a maximum of 6 to ensure greater supervision of clients. We are hoping to add an extra session on Thursdays if client interest is sufficient. Cost:
$24.50 per class + additional $4 pool usage fee class (rebate offered with private health companies). Proactive Living Classes:
As we age it becomes increasingly more important to keep fit and active. “Use it or lose it” is the old saying. At Dulwich Physiotherapy we offer strength and balance classes for the older population. Classes involve a combination of chair-based, standing and floor-based exercises that use dumbbell weights, theraband resistance bands, fit balls and magic circles. Proactive Living Timetable:
Thursday 10am – 10:45am (beginner level)

Cost:
$24.50 per class (rebate offered with private health companies).

Last week physio Fiona spent 5 days in Melbourne with Pembroke’s 1st XVIII men’s and women’s football team on their preseason camp.

Across the trip, both teams took on two Victorian schools - building experience, sharpening their team play, and laying the groundwork for a strong season ahead. It’s always a privilege to be part of these moments and support athletes as they prepare for what’s to come.

We’re excited to continue working with the teams throughout this coming season, providing game day coverage to help keep everyone performing at their best.

VALD DynaMo

This advanced strength and movement testing technology allows us to accurately measure range of movement and force produced by specific muscle groups - giving us clear, objective data on joint movement, muscle strength, power, and side-to-side differences. It’s widely used in elite sport and clinical rehab to identify weak esses, muscle imbalances and deficits that aren’t always obvious during regular assessment.

DynaMo is ideal for pre-season screening, rehabilitation after injury, return-to-sport decision making, and managing ongoing issues like knee, hip, or shoulder pain.

No guessing - just measurable results to guide your recovery and performance. Speak to our team to organise an appointment.

Ankle Taping

For athletes returning from an ankle injury, taping or bracing provides extra stability during training and competition.

These strategies help to support the joint, improve proportion, and reduce the risk of re-injury while muscles strengthen.

Ankle taping has been found to reduce risk of injury by 30-60%. While ankle bracing reduces the risk of recurrent ankle sprains by 50-70% (McGuine et al., 2011, Cordova et al., 2005, Willems et al., 2005).

Ankle taping or bracing is great to protect the joint during sport, but rehabilitation is essential - targeted exercises restore strength, balance, and stability are what truly reduce the risk of recurrent ankle sprains-injury and get you moving confidently again.

Ankle Sprains

Did you know 1 in 3 athletes who sprain their ankle will do it again within 12 months if deficits have not been properly addressed? Our physiotherapists can help guide you through rehab, with valuable data insights from VALD technology, to reduce re-injury risk and get you back on the court/field safely.

VALD Force Decks

This world-class system, used by elite sporting clubs, allows us to accurately measure your strength, power and balance. This testing identified your strengths, areas for improvement, and asymmetries between sides. These insights can help to reduce injury risk, guide future training, track progress over time, and feel confident returning to sport post-injury.

It’s perfect for pre-season and post-season, return-to-sport assessments, or balance testing.

Whether you’re an athlete chasing performance or simply wanting to move better and stay injury-free, this technology helps us tailor treatment specifically to you!

To our Dulwich Physio family, as of the 1st March 2026 we will have some small changes to our billing. As a small, independent clinic we have had to make the tough decision to exit from Bupa’s Members First (Preferred Provider) Scheme as the pricing structure governed by Bupa no longer reflects our running costs. All patients, despite their private health insurer, will pay the same amount per appointment for the same care you know and love. All private health insurance providers allow you to claim a rebate physiotherapy (as long as this is part of your policy), however for Bupa patients your rebate amount may change.

There will be no changes to the high-quality care you will receive, and we remain committed to transparency, fairness, and acting in the best interests of our patients. Your coverage amount associated with physiotherapy treatment will remain the same, however with potentially slightly lower rebate amounts per appointment, your coverage should remain consistent over most of the year.

If you have any questions or concerns, we are here for you. Please direct any communication towards our receptionist staff who will best help to find a solution for everyone. We welcome open discussion regarding treatment planning during times of financial stress and/or differing situations.

Thank you for your ongoing trust and support of our clinic 🙏🏽
