What started as a vision has grown into something truly special. Over the past 12 months, this space has seen hard work, meaningful progress, plenty of laughs, and a whole lot of wins

We’ve had the privilege of supporting so many people to work towards their goals across Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, and Allied Health Assistant services.

This space has been more than just a clinic. It has also been a place for team bonding days, para powerlifting events, professional development, and plenty of fun along the way.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built here, and even more grateful for the people (and pups) who walk through our doors every day.

🌟 Meet Kaylene – Senior Occupational Therapist! 🌟

We’re thrilled to welcome Kaylene to the team! 🙌 With over 30 years of experience across disability, rehabilitation, and aged care, Kaylene brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and clinical expertise to her work 💚

Kaylene is passionate about supporting people of all ages to build independence, participate in everyday life, and achieve what matters most to them. She has extensive experience across NDIS services, including:
🔹 Functional Capacity Assessments
🔹 Assistive Technology prescription
🔹 Home & Living assessments (SIL & SDA)

She also has specialist expertise in:
🔹 Complex seating & wheelchair prescription
🔹 Pressure care management
🔹 Complex home modifications 🏡

With a background as a Registered Nurse, Kaylene brings a strong foundation in complex health care and disability support. She has also worked in senior clinical, leadership, and education roles, and enjoys mentoring and supporting other therapists to grow and develop 🤝

Known for her warm, practical, and collaborative approach, Kaylene works closely with participants, families, and support teams to create meaningful outcomes that truly enhance everyday life.

Outside of work, you’ll find her enjoying lawn bowls, spending time with family, and embracing new adventures in Hervey Bay 🌊

We’re so excited to welcome Sequoyah to the team! 🙌 With 11 years of experience across community health, paediatrics, adults, aged care, and disability, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a highly skilled, client-centred approach to her work.

Sequoyah has extensive experience working across NDIS, SAH, MASS, and DVA services, with strong clinical reasoning in managing complex caseloads. She is passionate about delivering evidence-based care while supporting both her clients and fellow clinicians 🤝

Her areas of interest include:
🔹 Assistive technology prescription (wheelchairs, seating, mobility scooters, beds & more)
🔹 Minor & major home modifications 🏡

Last week our team had the privilege of chatting with students at Maryborough State High School about the exciting career opportunities available in allied health 👏

Jonas, our Clinic Manager and Exercise Physiologist, Madi, our Occupational Therapist, and Chloe, our Dietitian, shared insights into their roles and the different pathways to get into each profession 🎓💼

It was awesome to see so much curiosity and engagement from the students as they explored how they can turn their interests into meaningful careers helping others 💚

It is with a heavy heart that we farewell Henri as he departs Ascend to relocate to the Sunshine Coast 🌊☀️

Some of you may remember when Henri first joined us as a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed student way back in 2023 🌱 Since joining the team as a fully fledged Exercise Physiologist in March of 2024, Henri has become a beloved and indispensable member of our team 💚

In fact, Henri was the winner of the inaugural Ascend MVP 🏆, and coiner of the honorary position of “Ascend Allower General” (It’s a long story) 👑

Henri has helped many people and created cherished moments with both staff and clients alike over the past 2 years, and will be sorely missed 🥲

We’re incredibly excited to welcome Preshantha to the Ascend team as our first Physiotherapist! 🙌 She is passionate about helping people of all ages move better, feel stronger, and live more independently 💙

Preshantha has a strong interest in neurological conditions, particularly Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Motor Neurone Disease (MND), and enjoys working with clients with more complex needs. She brings a thoughtful, client-centred approach to every session, always tailoring her care to each individual’s goals.

Her areas of focus include:
🔹 Complex paediatric assistive technology 🧸
🔹 Supporting children and families with mobility, comfort, and participation
🔹 Home & living assessments 🏡
🔹 Manual handling & transfer planning

Huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our Para Powerlifting Development comp on Saturday 💪

It was such a great day, not just for competing, but for learning more about the sport, building confidence, refining technique, and being part of an incredibly supportive and inclusive environment 🙌

From first-timers to experienced lifters, it was awesome to see everyone getting involved and pushing themselves.

Events like this are what it’s all about – creating opportunities, celebrating progress, and having a bit of fun along the way 🔥

We’ve got TWO more comps coming up, so make sure you lock them in:
