Today marks 4 years since opening the doors to my private practice. Taking this leap was the scariest thing I've ever done, but there's no regrets as it has been the most fulfilling and satisfying work I've ever done. Walking alongside my amazing clients as they grow and heal has been a privilege.

Moving into my fifth year, I'm so happy and excited to announce that commencing this week, I will be supported by a wonderful admin team (located in Brisbane) who will help me by answering phone calls, booking appointments and streamlining by admin tasks. This means I'll have more energy to focus on the things I love, which is the therapeutic work with my clients and doing what I need to become an even better therapist.

I'm excited about what 2025 will bring. How about you?

What do you do when highly stressed or panicking?

The TIPP skill is a great one to add to your toolbox for times like this. It actually consists of 4 different actions you can take to help your nervous system calm and help you feel more in control.

Since it's usually hard to think properly while experiencing high stress levels or a panic attack, I recommend having a visual reminder of these skills at home where you can see it when needed. Alternatively, it is also very helpful to practice the skills (especially the breathing and PMR) while you are not stressed, so that it's easier to remember them when you are stressed.

How full is your battery?

This is a question I often ask my clients. A full battery means you are better equipped to cope with general stress, as your body is well rested, well nourished, and more resilient.

A flat battery makes it difficult for your body and mind to respond to stress effectively and can make it difficult to make good decisions about meaningful change.

The good news is that small steps can make a big difference towards recharging your battery. Actions such as going outside for some fresh air and sunshine, moving your body, or listening to uplifting music are things within your control that promote feelings of wellbeing and can motivate you to do more "energy givers".

How many "energy givers" can you do today?

As the end of the year closes in and I head into a much needed break, I wish to thank all my wonderful clients for allowing me to help them heal and grow, while also teaching me so much. 2023 has been great, but 2024 will be amazing.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holiday period that is safe and restful.

As we head towards the end of the year, it's common to feel a sense of weariness as we do our best to cope with everything life throws at us.

Here's a reminder that rest can look like a variety of things depending on what area of your life is needing a recharge.

I am all moved into the new office space at the Globe (190 Cheapside Street). Entry is via the rear carpark, and you'll find me through the middle door.

Similar to the previous office, there's no reception area inside, so if you arrive early for your appointment there is seating on the verandah where you can wait for your session.

This new space is much quieter and importantly is very unlikely to flood! I'm looking forward to seeing my clients here starting from tomorrow.

I am moving!
I am relocating to 190 Cheapside Street during my break next week. Watch this space for a preview of the new office setup.

Today is R U OK? Day.

While it's an important reminder each year to check in on those around you, it's also important to normalise the practice of doing so every day of the year.

We all struggle with our mental health from time to time. Watching out for the signs of struggle and reaching out with a few kind words may be the actions that change a person's life for the better
