What are the underlying causes of black dots and bruising resulting from finger pricking? The use of a dull lancet, which has been in use for a year, and the application of undue pressure to the finger to obtain blood. The guidelines stipulate that lancets should be replaced after each use, but I recommend a replacement after every four uses, given the associated expense. Moreover, I advise clients to employ gentle finger massage to promote blood flow, rather than applying pressure, to mitigate skin trauma. Let’s be gentle to our fingers. 🩸💙
