Agricon is deeply saddened to share news of the passing on Monday, 29 December 2025, of respected stock and station agent, auctioneer and rural merchandising leader Tony Wilshire, father to our Managing Director, Todd Wilshire.

A former Dalgety stock and station agent and auctioneer, in 1979 Tony joined the family stock and station agency business Wilshire and Co in Tenterfield created by his father Forrest in 1960. Under Tony, and later in 2002 when son Todd joined the business, Wilshire and Co expanded into produce, rural merchandising and agronomic services in conjunction with the CRT group, and later diversified into providing local Thriftylink hardware outlets, with a network of six stores located in Stanthorpe, Tenterfield, Texas, Inglewood, Mingoola and Deepwater.

In May 2024 the Wilshire family announced the sale of the Wilshire and Co business to Pursehouse Rural, one of the nation’s largest independent and privately owned rural merchandisers.

🐂🌿 Natural parasite control with Agricon Supersulf Defender block : why garlic & sulphur help your herd 🌿🐃

If you run cattle, you know how much of a pain buffalo fly, ticks and lice can be — stress, irritation, lost weight or production losses. That’s where garlic and sulphur come in.

👉 How garlic works: When cattle are fed garlic, compounds like alliin — which becomes allicin — get metabolised and released through their skin and breath.
