Spring has sprung and that means mozzies. π
'Today is where your book begins, the rest is still unbitten.' πΆ
Mosquito season is upon us, and the class of 2025 are out in force, ready to bite. π¦
While mosquito bites can be itchy and annoying, mozzies in Queensland can also carry serious diseases, like dengue, Ross River Virus, Barmah Forest Virus and Japanese Encephalitis Virus.
β£
Here's how to avoid getting bitten:
π¦ Use insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
π Wear loose-fitted, light-coloured clothing and covered footwear.
β¨οΈ Use mosquito coils outdoors.
π Remove breeding sites from your home (empty items that hold water, keep lawns mowed, drain and fill pools of water).
Most mozzie bites will result in no issues or symptoms. If you start experiencing diarrhoea, headaches, fever, or nausea, contact your GP.
