With the recent, heart-wrenching closure of Burton's dairy, those of us who are used to having access to raw milk had been left hanging ... until Udder Luxury came along, at least.
As a farm girl, I rarely had to consume pasteurised milk, up until my teens. Let alone homogenised or fat-reduced. 🙄
Despite being a premi baby, who had to be bottle-fed, I never developed excema, asthma nor any allergy of significance. For these reasons, I will always be grateful that I was nourished with raw milk, from an early age. Seems fair, since I was born early because the house cow got out and mum climbed the fence to fetch her back in. 😁
Whole milk provides so many nutritive benefits, as there is a synergy to the natural product that our body recognises - via our digestive system - so it knows how to process it. Where to put it, how to utilise it to make best use of the entire food.
For instance, despite what you've been told, cream isn't "bad" fat. It carries with it essential fat-soluble vitamins and minerals that you would otherwise not have access to.
The key term being "fat-soluble. This means no matter how much you fortify (i.e. artificially introduce micro-nutrients) a product, if the correct carrier is not present, your body is unable to access these nutrients. The body may not even recognise them, in which case it will either store them in the liver (so it becomes even more congested) or you will excrete them, never having used them.
That said, the benefits of raw, whole milk are even greater. Looking beyond the excellent bioavailability of the minerals and vitamins, the enzymes that are stll active in raw milk are what our bodies require for our gut to breakdown the whole product to the constituents that we need.
One can't help but ponder on the fact that the country that invented pasteurisation produce some of the best cheeses in the world, all from unpasteurised milk. (For those in the dark, Louis Pasteur was a French scientist)
There are more benefits than listed here, of course, so if you'd like some help to find high quality information, let me know and I'll share some links. Meantime, if you would appreciate access to local product, join Udder Luxury to help them provide a continuous supply.
