One of my favourite countries to travel through is Canada, l have been lucky to go there 3 times and it’s definitely on my list of places I would love to live. It’s the outdoors that I really love but I also developed quiet a love for bloody Mary’s or Ceaser as they are called there. The drink can almost be called a meal with some restaurants going next level on the garnishes, don’t be surprised to see a cocktail sized toasted cheese sandwiches or slider on the rim of your drink, along with the standard pickled veg and salami sticks, they are incredible and a great way to get your food in when having a drink because it really does pay to eat all the garnishes before trying to drink those bad boys.
We’ve been getting into making them at home and some nights they look pretty frickin epic so I thought I’d share. My hubby has been making his own biltong which makes for a great garnish and tasty side snack.
What’s in them?
- 2 shots of vodka
- 4 shots of tomato juice-
- a very heavy hand of Worcestershire sauce
- an equally heavy hand of to***co approx 4-6 shakes
- loads of ice
- a wedge of lemon
- a pinch of cracked pepper
- celery
- pink Himalayan salt
- pickles and biltong on the side
🤤🤤🤤🤤

Pretty stoked with this little experiment it’s a chicken leek and mushroom pie But...... the pastry is made out of buckwheat flour 😱 can you tell?? It looks just as good as normal short crust pastry, tastes pretty delish and is almost gluten free. I ran out of buckwheat flour so had to top up with 100g of wholemeal 🤦🏻‍♀️ but maybe that’s why it turned out so good.

I would be lying if I said I’m not looking forward to the restrictions easing again(I really cant wait to go to the pub and hang out with mates) but is it wrong for me to say I have also enjoyed being in isolation 🤭 my little man has been next level delicious, 3 is such a gorgeous age, the creative imagination, and extraordinary conversations and the amount of love that’s given is beyond😍💓. And I don’t remember the last time we got to have so much time with dad (although he isn’t in these photos 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 he’s at home having some much needed free time....making gin).

What a delicious way to end a gorgeous sunny day, perfectly cooked orange roughy (even if I do say so myself 🤭) with a very simple green veg salad and lime dressing.
Orange Roughy is a very delicate fish with a buttery delicious flavour that melts in your mouth. Because it’s so delicate it could be considered a little difficult to cook, 3 simple techniques I do which help that I hope you’ll find really helpful are: - to lightly pat the fish dry with a paper towel before seasoning - then always make sure you place it into a well oiled really hot pan, and this last bit i think is the key, leave the fish to cook, don’t move or even touch it until you can see that it has cooked almost all the way through. The translucent appearance of the fish will turn a lovely porcelain white so when you see just a small strip of raw left on the top of the fish add a k**b of butter to the pan, once it begins to bubble you want to gently swill the pan, ONLY when the fish begins to slide in your pan can you flip your fish. Remove from the heat straight away, squeeze over some fresh lemon and baste again with the juices. The result a lovely golden top that hasn’t stuck to the pan or fallen to pieces. 🤤

This is my new favourite lunch box, it’s called Porter by I 💜 it! the wrap around stretch tie means the lid stays on perfect. And whilst hubby doesn’t need to take lunch to work we are still being creative with our self isolating and this travelled perfectly in the backpack yesterday when we went for a family bike ride. Of course I also love that it’s pretty 😍😍 got mine from .
It had leftovers from dinner the night before which was a super easy cheat meal with a good old cooked chook from the supermarket. I love a easy night!

It’s a cheat night dinner tonight, couple of wines last night and all good intentions go out the window 🤭 hubby suggested getting pizza delivered and about 90% of me wanted to say yes, but I’m pretty happy that 10% decided I was capable of cooking.
Packet pasta with packet sauce, fresh chorizo and tomato with baby spinach and all done in under 30 minutes. Was frickin delicious, not a pizza but still yum.
I love cooking from scratch but I also love a good cheat when the result life requires.
Of course we loaded up with Parmesan 🤤
Deconstructed for the little man.

Dinners in our house have been simplified but still just as delicious!!!!! Our supermarket today had plenty of fresh produce which is great for me but clearly everyone’s buying up on pasta and rice and anything canned. (I get it it’s a scary time so totally not judging) Here is a perfect dinner idea to curve you away from pasta and rice. It’s a one pot wonder and is basically a very simple beef chilli with the addition of fresh corn, a whole broccoli, some courgettes and some black beans if you can’t get tinned then start with dried and soak then boil. Top with Greek yog and fresh coriander and hot sauce 🤤 it needs to cook for a good few hours but we are all at home so.........

Practicing our self isolating today with a beautiful bush walk, as we prepare for Sydney going into lockdown. A perfect day and a wonderful safe way to enjoy being outside while obeying the new socialising laws. 😬Look after yourselves 💜

Are all supermarkets as empty as mine? I’ve been struggling with planning menus this week because finding ingredients has been tough. So here is an old recipe (new photo) that uses polenta a great product that has a really long shelf life but that isn’t a typical ingredient that everyone is rushing to buy. They are called hush puppies which are balls of corn that have been deep fried so it’s just like a sweet corn fritter but super crunchy on the outside and soft in the centre. Sooooo delicious with a roasted tomato chipotle dip.

When your handed rhubarb and asked to make a dessert 🤤. This one is very similar to a Louise cake, buttery rich base, roasted rhubarb and shaved coconut macaroon top. I’m a little naughty when I follow dessert recipes because I freestyle quite a lot sometimes it’s a win, sometimes a fail but this one turned out fabulous

Gave this recipe a go over the weekend. Had friends over for Sunday lunch and this was a super easy delicious way to finish off the afternoon. I cheated (of course😉)the recipe called for labne that was whipped with honey and orange and then hung for 3 hours. I just threw everything on the plate natural and drizzled with loads of honey instead. Absolutely scrumptious!!! And goes down well with wine 😍
