Hi Followers the influenza virus is pretty active at the moment and is predicted to increase rapidly over the next few weeks.
The flu can make you very sick, but there are simple ways to protect yourself and others. Follow these tips to stay well this winter:
1. Get your flu vaccination, it is free for most people or if not, at our practice it is $22.00.
2. Practice good hygiene by washing your hands frequently, cough and sneeze into your elbow not your hands, throw used tissues into the bin and wash your hands straight away.
3. Avoid spreading or catching germs by staying away from people who are sick and if you feel unwell, stay at home and rest up.
4. Keep your body strong by eating healthy foods, drink enough water, get enough sleep, exercise regularly, manage stress, avoid smoking and limit alcohol.
5. Clean and air out shared spaces by wiping down things people touch often like benches, door k***s, phones, desks and open windows when you can to let fresh air in.
6. Wear a mask if needed in busy or crowed places like waiting rooms. We are all wearing masks here at the Hub and ask that if you are visiting too that you also wear one. If you don't have your own, don't worry we have supplies here at reception.
7. Know the symptoms and act quickly - fever, sore throat, cough, fatigue, body aches. If you are at risk or feel very unwell see your GP early.
