Masters student pelvic health consultations available in September for women and men at Physio Alive!

- Do you have a pelvic health concern?
(ie leaking of urine or faeces, urgency, frequency, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, painful in*******se, bowel troubles, recent vaginal or caesarean delivery, recent or pending gynae or prostate surgery to name a few)

- Are you available for 1, or ideally 2 consultations at McLaren Vale on Monday 2nd September /Tuesday 3rd September, and Monday 16th September /Tuesday 17th September?

- Perhaps the cost of pelvic health consultations has been a major barrier for accessing treatment? (We are so delighted to offer this reduced fee service!)

- Would you like an extremely thorough assessment and treatment plan for your issue/s and at the same time contribute to the learning of the (much needed!) next generation of pelvic health physios?

Now is the time to reach out to us for some help!

During the aforementioned dates, we have consults available with Chelsea, a fully qualified physiotherapist who is undertaking the final clinical placement for her Masters degree in Pelvic health from Curtin Uni. Lauren Locke is working as a supervisor and will be present during the consults, and will be available to take over your ongoing care once the placement is finished.

The cost of these student sessions is a vastly reduced $85, (initial consults with Lauren are usually $210) with consults between 60-90 mins. If you have a Medicare Care Plan or if you have private health insurance there would be a small gap.

We only have a handful of spots on offer so don't delay if you would like an appointment!

Our team has been raising funds for the PINC&STEEL oncology rehabilitation program again this year. We are just shy of our target and would be very grateful for any donations that could push us over the finish line. 🙏🏻

These funds help those affected by cancer treatment regain fitness, confidence and wellbeing. Funds raised by us stay in our region!

With much gratitude from Lauren, Hayley and many, many grateful recipients. ❤️

We have signed up for Dry July to raise money for people affected by cancer.

It’s Cancer Rehab Awareness week, an initiative by the PINC&STEEL foundation to raise awareness of the benefits of rehabilitation for people affected by cancer.

Our team of physios and support staff at Physio Alive we are extremely proud of our 1:1 and group oncology rehabilitation services which have now helped hundreds of people around the Fleurieu regain strength, fitness and confidence and reduce pain, fatigue and distress. 🏋🏻‍♀️🏌🏽‍♀️🧘🏻‍♀️🤸🏿‍♂️

💥 Over the past decade, there has been a compelling and growing body of research showing that rehabilitation should be part of the clinical pathway for cancer patients.

🎲 Together, oncology rehabilitation healthcare professionals are helping more and more people, but there is still an enormous discrepancy in the numbers suffering from side effects of cancer treatment and those being referred to rehabilitation.

🎯 We need your help to spread the word because no one should miss out.

💓 Ask your loved ones who’ve experienced cancer if they are getting the rehabilitation they need… in fact, if they are getting any rehabilitation support at all!

If they are not, encourage them to talk to their local PINC & STEEL Oncology Rehab Professional.

📣 We are excited to announce a new persistent pain Physiotherapy service with our newest team member, Mieke Boerema at Physio Alive✨

Mieke graduated from the University of South Australia in 2011 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. In 2020-22, Mieke took on training to become a Local Pain Educator with Pain Revolution, an initiative designed to build capacity in communities by embedding knowledge and skills in best practice pain care. She completed a postgraduate certificate in Pain Science and Education followed by a year, under mentorship, facilitating Local Pain Collective sessions for health practitioners. In addition she now volunteers as a mentor and has been spending time with our team upskilling us all on persistent pain management best practice.

Mieke sees the clinical relationship as a partnership where both the clinician and the client have an open questioning and problem solving approach to the experience of pain, sensation and movement. She takes the time to understand the whole person and their individual experience. She works alongside clients to help them understand their pain better and to build confidence in their body and movement. Strategies are collaborative, active, holistic, guided by evidence and encourage independence. Mieke aims to empower people to move freely and hold a lifelong love and capacity for movement.

Mieke is passionate about movement, wellbeing, lifelong learning and creativity. When she’s not in the clinic, you can find her being a new mum, in her pottery studio, tending to her garden or at the beach.

If you or a loved one would like to learn more about managing a persistent pain problem, please reach out to our team on 8323 8058 and ask for an appointment with Mieke at our Aldinga clinic.
