🔧 Why do we ask about your Allied Health reports?

Here at Wheelnutz Garage, you might have noticed we ask whether you’re happy to share reports like your Functional Capacity Assessment or other allied health documentation.

We want to explain why, because it comes from a place of genuine care.

👉🏼 Your occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or other allied health professionals put a lot of thought into understanding what YOUR body needs, what movements to encourage, and what goals you’re working toward.

When you share those insights with us, it means we can tailor your time in the garage to complement the work you’re already doing with your therapist.

👣Whether that’s encouraging specific movements, building on your strength and coordination goals, adapting tasks to suit your capacity, or simply making sure we’re supporting, not hindering, your progress.

You are always in control. Sharing is completely optional and confidential. But when you do, it helps us make your garage time so much more meaningful.💪🏼

Some big news to share with our Wheelnutz Garage family 🛠️💜

Last week I was honoured to step into the role of Chair of DSX, a national coalition of small to medium registered NDIS providers.

What does that mean for us? It means our community now has a stronger voice at the table where decisions about the NDIS get made.

DSX exists to keep pressure on Government to recognise just how vital small, ethical, community-based providers are in the lives of NDIS participants, the providers who know you by name, who turn up, who actually care. There's a real risk the NDIS market gets squeezed down to a handful of giant providers, and we're determined that doesn't happen at the expense of participants and the providers who do this work the right way.

We're already making formal submissions to Government, including on the NDIS pricing review, and engaging directly with the NDIS Commission on the issues that matter most to our community.

To every participant who works alongside us at the garage, every parent and family member, and every supporter who believes in what we do here, thank you. You are exactly why this matters.

This is a real chance to make a difference, and I want to hear from you: what's working in the NDIS, what isn't, and what you want us to fight for.

X Director Jade.

It’s a day to recognise interpreters including spoken language and Auslan interpreters for the huge role they play in communication, accessibility, inclusion, healthcare, justice, and connection. 🩵🙏🏻

Today is an important day for our community, Interpreter Appreciation Day! 🎉

It’s important to stop, reflect and say a big thank you to all of our interpreters across Australia. Deaf Connect is proud to employ hundreds of interpreters who act as vital bridges between language and culture — whether in everyday conversations or the most complex, high‑stakes scenarios.

We truly appreciate the work that you do, your dedication, and your support in connecting people every day and supporting communication access between hearing and Deaf people.

So thank you — thank you to all interpreters here at Deaf Connect, and to interpreters across the Deaf community! 💛
