Gentle Death Education and Planning

Gentle Death Education and Planning End of Life consultant & educator, researcher; EOL services, advocacy & support for people & pets. Comprehensive & inclusive training, EFT psychotherapy.

Death literacy, secular/atheist, LBGTIQA+ ally, diversity-inclusive, kink-friendly safe space. Gentle Death and Events Planning is a culmination of decades spent working to relieve grief and trauma. I founded GDEP to help everyday people and professionals in the end of life space increase their capacity to support the dying. I do this through direct support as an end of life consultant, providing

direct mentoring virtually and face-to-face, as a speaker, academic, teacher and publishing research. My latest undertaking is an online program that brings together practical support with evidence-based knowledge to help empower people when acting in a support role to someone facing end of life. Inclusive of diversity, culturally impartial, and free from religion, my end of life training is suitable for practising professionals and the layperson alike.

I am a therapist. I cannot begin to explain to you how enraged and appalled I am - notes and medical history should remain confidential.

You can always ask your therapist to keep hard copy notes only (as I always do and will continue to do) as anything via a keyboard that has access to wifi/internet is potentially hackable.

We believe all survivors of sexual assault should be able to safely access counselling without fear of their offender ever eavesdropping in on the conversation. Yet our legal system currently undermines confidence in vital counselling services by enabling offenders and other third parties access to....

Just completed the Grinda shawl for a friend using Scheepjes Brambleberry from . What a ride! I learned new crochet techniques and took a break from my usual knitting.

I use fibre art and crafts to decompress from Grieg support work.

Feeling quite chuffed with this beauty. What are you making at the moment?

I've done it.

Four complete shows of My Mum Died - RUDE! 3 at Adelaide Fringe festival, one last night in my local Deloraine Little Theatre.

I'm so incredibly proud of myself for seeing this project through to completion. Based on weekly video diaries uploaded to social media for the year following my mother's death, the audience responses have been generous and affirming. Dubbed "a hidden gem" and with a standing ovation at I had a big crowd last night and many stories from audience members as well as very interesting questions during the Q and A afterwards.

Last night's performance was filmed, so stay tuned for more updates!

Thank you Greg and Tim for back of house sound, video and lighting, Cheryl and Glenis for front of house greeting and fabulousness, Tessa for ambrosia coffee in a challenging kitchen, and Greg and Francoise for feeding me.

Flyers in the wild!!

Tonight brings my first show to a close - but there are still tickets left if you want you come along. Laugh about grief, family dynamics, and why we can let go of trying to "do grief right". Bonus points for catching a Golden Girls reference 😉
