This week, our upper years students at Gwynne Park Education Support Centre took part in the engaging WasteSorted Race Incursion delivered through the Waste Authority’s WasteSorted Schools program. Students explored the importance of sorting waste correctly and learned about the different coloured bins used at home and school.
The highlight of the session was an interactive race where students worked together to sort items into the correct bins, putting their new knowledge into practice in a fun and meaningful way. Activities like this help our students develop practical lifelong habits for reducing waste and caring for the environment.

MaCS Term 2
MaCS has been filled with laughter and fun this year, with Lunch Club proving to be a particular highlight for many students. It’s been wonderful to see such positive engagement, alongside the strong social and emotional growth demonstrated through both the Social Club and Satellite programs.
We’re also excited to introduce a new addition to MaCS, with the Boys & Girls Club now running during recess on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, offering even more opportunities for students to connect and enjoy their time at school.
Our dedicated Student Leaders continue to show great initiative through their weekly paper recycling efforts, and we have now launched our Foodbank collection for 2026. We’re proud of the leadership, responsibility, and community spirit being shown across our school.

Today, all five of our Early Childhood classes joined together on an exciting excursion to Scitech. We travelled by bus to the CBD, where we explored the amazing exhibits on offer. Students loved the range of interactive activities, as there was truly something for everyone. In the Kaartadjin Koorliny area students enjoyed tapping buttons to make music, as well as watching pieces of fabric being sucked into intertwining tubes and popping out the other end. In Discoverland, other students loved placing small boats into a flowing stream of water and altering the course of their vessels, by changing the direction of the water flow. Additionally, students eagerly engaged in construction by lifting, shifting and building with foam blocks. The day was filled with an abundance of smiling faces from both students and staff. GPESC would like to thank everyone who helped make this event so successful, and certainly one to remember.

Kaya and welcome to Term 2! Where did that first week go? We are pleased to report that our Kindy students have settled nicely back into their school routines. This term our class themes are “Dreaming” and “Take Flight”. Our first story for the term was “Possum Magic”. Our Kindy students have so many amazing activities coming up including an excursion to SciTech, a Mother’s Day event and NAIDOC celebrations. We look forward to updating you with more information in our school newsletter.
