Is it that time of the year again, school is heading back and you’re starting to feel a little restless about it?

Enjoy this practice, wind down and cool down - 45 minutes. What better way to end the long weekend.

Open your body and energy channels in this nurturing practice that begins with a gentle Vinyasa warm-up before melting into deep Yin holds targeting the entire posterior chain. As we explore the physical opening of hips, hamstrings, calves, and feet, we'll discover how Yin practice becomes the perfect metaphor for receiving life's abundance.

As we create space in these often-tight areas, we'll contemplate how surrendering into poses mirrors our capacity to remain open to life's gifts and opportunities.

Why I ❤️ OSTEOPATHY!

I recently had a treatment myself from one of our team and it just reminded me why I love Osteopathy.

Besides the fact I felt great afterwards.

The body’s remarkable ability to compensate and adapt in the face of stress, injury and illness is a testament to its RESILIENCE and INTELLIGENCE. 🫶🏻

The human body is an intricate network of interconnected systems, each influencing the others in a delicate balance of function and health.

From the way our muscles and joints support movement to how our nervous system regulates and responds to external and internal stimuli, every part plays a vital role in maintaining overall equilibrium.

And why I love Osteopathy?

I BELIEVE I CAN, SO I DO! Lenny Kravitz was the first concert I went to as a teenager, and his lyrics have been embedded into my mind. Sound on 🔉 🎶

NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS!

Self-efficacy refers to an individual’s belief in their ability to accomplish specific tasks, achieve goals, or navigate challenging situations.

It involves confidence in one’s own competence and skills, influencing motivation, perseverance, and overall performance in various aspects of life.

I share this because for anyone starting out a New Year, I know you might be setting yourself some new goals or contemplating how the year ahead might look!

And self-efficacy is paramount!

Here are some strategies as to how you can build your own confidence in one’s competence and skills.

1. Set realistic goals ; break down larger goals into smaller achievable bite sizes. My mantra is often “one day at a time - GO”. Or “focus on today, what do I need to do today”!

2. Positive self talk, always encouraging and supportive. “Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.” - Christian D. Larson

3. Visualisation; my great friend and mentor helped me fine tune my visualisation - my INTENTIONAL success picture. How do I see my life and what does that feel like.

4. Surround myself with positive and supportive people. Even if they’re challenging you towards what they too know you’re capable of. And I have that team, my husband, our family, my friends and my staff - anything is possible!

5. I learn from my mistakes, even if it takes a couple of goes, I am learning! “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” - Winston Churchill ; I definitely have the courage to carry on!

6. Celebrate your achievements ; when you work bloody hard to achieve your dreams not just for yourself but for the benefit of who it is we’re serving - damn right I’ll celebrate! Even if it’s just with a shot of limoncello, it doesn’t need to cost you or be exorbitant!

This 31 day challenge will help you:

Select a routine that suits your current fitness level and schedule. Begin with shorter sessions and gradually increase the duration and intensity as your body adapts.

🌸 3. Create a Consistent Schedule:

Consistency is key. Dedicate a specific time each day for your practice. It could be in the morning to kickstart your day or in the evening to unwind. A consistent schedule makes it easier to form a habit.

🌸 4. Listen to Your Body:

Be attentive to your body's signals. Choose poses and exercises that are comfortable for you and avoid overexertion. Adapt the practice to your body's current capabilities.

🌸 5. Focus on Breath and Mindfulness:

Incorporate deep breathing and mindfulness into your practice. This enhances relaxation, reduces stress, and fosters a deeper connection between your mind and body.

🌸 6. Track Your Progress:

Maintain a journal to record your practice - how you feel, and any improvements you notice. Tracking progress can be motivating and help you stay committed.

🌸 7. Celebrate Achievements:

Acknowledge your achievements along the way. Celebrate milestones, whether it's holding a challenging pose or completing a longer session. Positive reinforcement boosts your commitment.

🌸 8. Stay Open to Adaptation:

As your body continues to change, remain open to adapting your practice. Modify poses, adjust routines, and explore new techniques that cater to your evolving needs.

🌸 9. Create a Supportive Environment:

Surround yourself with positivity. Inform your loved ones about your daily practice and ask for their support.

🌸 10. Stay Patient and Kind to Yourself:

Progress may not be linear, and some days might be more challenging than others. Be patient with yourself and practice self-compassion. The journey is about embracing change with grace.

🌸 11. Reflect and Adjust

Periodically evaluate your practice's effectiveness. Are you achieving your goals? Do you need to make adjustments? Flexibility in adapting your routine is essential for long-term success.

Remember, your daily movement practice is a journey toward embracing the changes in health and with positivity. By integrating yoga and Pilates, you'll be nurturing your body, mind, and spirit, creating a foundation for well-being.

It’s crucial to recognize that “empathy fatigue” or “compassion fatigue” does not arise from having “too much” compassion or empathy. In fact, when we reduce empathy or compassion in the face of exhaustion or burnout we’re likely to actually perpetuate burnout rather than reduce it, because we numb our natural tendencies to connect and commune with others.
