PMCV would like to welcome Myra Cooke to the team as our Workforce & Planning Lead!

Myra has a strong background in medical workforce planning and supporting prevocational doctors through complex training environments. She has collaborated with various clinicians and leaders to strengthen rotational programs and enhance wellbeing supports.

She took on the role as she is passionate about creating systems where prevocational doctors can thrive and felt that contributing to this on a statewide level strongly aligned with her values and experiences.

Myra sees the Workforce & Planning function as proactive, data informed and strategically positioned to anticipate emerging workforce challenges. In the future, she hopes to strengthen long-term planning, system transparency, and collaboration to support sustainable high-quality medical training.

Please join us in welcoming Myra!

There are four types of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) and the first is Clinical Assessment.

EPA1 presents the opportunity for a prevocational doctor to undertake a routine assessment whilst being observed. It can take place in a variety of clinical contexts including admissions, ward-call tasks, ward rounds, lower acuity emergency department presentations, general practice consultations or outpatient clinical attendances.

Did you know that PMCV has several recommendations on how to complete this EPA on our website? https://buff.ly/qpS83Er

PMCV would like to introduce Dr Allen Xiao, a PGY1 from Northeast Health Wangaratta who will be taking on the role of JMO Victoria Co-Chair in 2026!

Allen leapt at the opportunity to lead JMO Victoria to advocate for the rights and wellbeing of his peers, which goes hand-in-hand with creating a safe, effective future medical workforce.

In 2026, he wants to see JMO Victoria as an active, connected and visible organisation that delivers for its community. He hopes to stay engaged with like-minded organisations and build trust with Health Service Representatives across the state to support education and advocacy.

Allen has a keen interest in the areas of rural generalism, critical care and public health. Outside of medicine, he has been a diehard fan of the Essendon Football Club for 20 years and is hoping this year will result in some finals victory.

We would like to reintroduce Dr Harshika Herath from Monash Health who will continue in her role as JMO Victoria Co-Chair in 2026!

Harshika believes that 2025 was a great year for JMO Victoria given they hosted their biggest event to date and have significantly grown their social media presence and reach.
She was most proud of the work done by herself and 2025 Workforce Lead Dr Adam Wahab to better understand factors affecting JMO reluctance to work in regional or rural Victoria. The project involved collaboration with peers around the state and was presented to key stakeholders, including the PMCV Board, at the 2025 ANZPMEF in Sydney.

Harshika chose to stay on as Co-Chair to continue the incredible work of the 2025 Committee and increase access to JMO Victoria's resources, support, and events for prevocational doctors throughout the state. She hopes that as the medical education landscape continues to evolve, JMO Victoria can play a huge role in advocating and supporting prevocational doctor wellbeing.
