I meet people every day who describe themselves as โhigh functioning,โ but when we dig a little deeper, the cracks begin to show. They talk about broken relationships, losing their licence, infidelity, declining health, and feeling overwhelmed by a job that others, without the weight of drugs or alcohol, manage with ease.
And then we go further. Beneath the surface lies anxiety, negative self-image, trauma, and patterns of behaviour they know are harmful but feel powerless to change.
โHigh functioningโ becomes the last defence, the final justification. Because everything looks okay on the outside, it feels okay to keep drinking, to keep using. But when the facade starts to crack, people realise they need helpโand they seek it fast.
Hereโs the good news: if youโve been successful before, you already have what it takes to turn things around.
You have the tools and the knowledge to rebuild yourself, to reclaim a new identity. Along the way, youโll gain insights into your perceptions, your thinking, and your approach to life.
Think of it like pulling apart an engine and rebuilding it. The parts are the same, but with better tuning, you can achieve greater performance.
Truly high-functioning people are calm, organised, meticulous, considered, present, engaged, and deeply, purposefully motivated. I know this because Iโve helped hundreds of people stop kidding themselves, get honest, and do the work to reclaim this title.
The most rewarding part of this journey is watching people discover who they really are and what they truly want. And often, it leads to redefining what โhigh functioningโ means to them.
Remember, itโs not about where you are right nowโitโs about where you can be.
If you need some help with your fine tune, just reach out.
