Thank you to everyone who has already expressed interest in this project. It is fantastic to see so much interest come through already.

We are currently recruiting participants who have had bariatric surgery, aged 18 years or older, reside in Australia, who are willing to complete a short online demographic survey (5-10 minutes) and participate in a 1 hour interview via Zoom or over the phone. Participants will be reimbursed for their time.

We are aiming to have as much diversity reflected in our group of participants as is possible. And so, we would like to especially welcome men to participate, given their more limited representation in research about bariatric surgery (and research more generally to do with psychosocial care).

We would also like to especially welcome individuals who have had surgery over two years ago to participate.

If you are interested in participating, please access the link https://redcap.link/bariatriccare or scan the QR code in the attached poster. If you require further information, feel free to email Cindy at cindy.zhou@myacu.edu.au.

The study is being conducted by Ms Cindy Zhou (Student Researcher) under the supervision of Ms Annemarie Hindle (Principal Investigator and Clinical Psychologist who works with people who have had or are considering having bariatric surgery) in collaboration with Australian Catholic University.

Thank you for considering our research. Feel free to ‘share’ this post to help us in reaching post-bariatric surgery patients.

POST-BARIATRIC SURGERY PARTICIPANTS WANTED

What is your experience of psychosocial care before and after bariatric surgery?

This research project aims to better understand how post-bariatric surgery patients have experienced psychosocial care. Psychosocial care includes a broad range of treatments and support services, such as information-sharing, psychological therapies (such as counselling or group therapy), dietary and lifestyle behavioural interventions (such as nutrition and exercise groups) and support groups (in-person and online). By obtaining your insights and recommendations, we hope to improve systems of care and outcomes for patients before and after surgery.

We are recruiting post-bariatric surgery patients aged 18 years or older, residing in Australia, who are willing to complete a short online demographic survey (5-10 minutes) and participate in a 1 hour interview via Zoom or over the phone. Participants will be reimbursed for their time.
